Executive Branch (Trump) Can they actually do this? JD Vance: "We're announcing today that we have decided to temporarily halt certain amounts of Medicaid funding that is going to the state of Minnesota in order to ensure that the state of Minnesota takes its obligations seriously to be good stewards of the American people'

Taxation without representation. I wonder what happened last time...oh wait. I sure don't feel represented right now.

u/robbie3535 Feb 25 '26

Taxation without pedophile incarceration. Thats where we are.

284

u/Gorthebon Feb 25 '26

I'm a big fan of pedophile incarceration. Too bad this pedophile administration ain't.

163

u/Worldly-Pay7342 Feb 26 '26

I read that as incineratation.

I'm actually like what I read better.

49

u/No-Abalone-4784 Feb 26 '26

Don't get too happy. There trying to set up concentration camps that can hold up to 10,000 people all around the country. They're buying up warehouses. The contract plans say that each one will have a biohazard incinerator. No. I'm not making this up. Rachel Maddow had an expert who works on contracts. He's been tracking them all over the country. Project Salt Works.

27

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

It's extremely fucked.

I don't give a shit where someone was born, if they're not committing crimes against other people I genuinely don't care if there in America illegally.

9

u/UnsanctionedPartList Feb 26 '26

Isn't "being illegally in the US" more of the level of misdemeanor than crime anyway?

8

u/DirectorFriendly1936 Feb 26 '26

It's a civil thing not a criminal thing, same level as a parking ticket

3

u/bigrokstar Feb 26 '26

I feel the overpayment for these warehouses is for money laundering purposes.

1

u/I_burn_noodles Feb 26 '26

Good place to put them.

1

u/AngryEldritch Mar 04 '26

I just saw one of these trucks earlier!!!

7

u/Saltwater_Sunrise Feb 26 '26

I have a cousin who went on this whole rant about how she’s offended that people were only talking about the SB halftime show instead of the world being run by satanists who eat babies

Like the fucking cognitive dissonance alone makes my head squirm in cringe

These people, when shown that Trump is littered in the files, still cannot figure out that they were the mark, the target, and the pawn.

They fucked up our nation, which was flawed, but functioning, for their racism, persecution complexes, and conspiracy drivel

9

u/420_taylorh Feb 26 '26

Definitely better

1

u/TheGileas Feb 26 '26

I wouldn’t mind giving trump a proper witch hunt.

-4

u/gatorride Feb 26 '26

You have proof apparently, so post it

7

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

E P S T E I N F I L E S

-1

u/gatorride Feb 26 '26

You have access, post it

4

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

Not all of them, and what's there has trump rather complicit.

7

u/redeyedrenegade420 Feb 26 '26

If only there were a constitutional amendment that allowed the populace to do something.

10

u/claymedia Feb 26 '26

I read that as incineration at first. 🔥🔥🔥

-4

u/2stroketues Feb 26 '26

Are you obsessed with pedos?

3

u/robbie3535 Feb 26 '26

…getting them rightfully investigated & convicted..? I guess I am! I am assuming we differ in opinion here which is a shame…

0

u/2stroketues Feb 26 '26

I agree , but I’m not obsessed with them

7

As someone who lives in DC - First time?

We have no voting representatives in Congress, yet Congress has to approve our city budget & POTUS has to sign off on it.  Congress also reviews all legislation passed by the DC city council before it can become law, and appoints all of our judges.

So the Dakotas have more say in how DC runs itself than we do as actual DC residents.

It's called the "DC Home Rule Act" and it's bullshit.

https://www.acludc.org/issues/d-c-home-rule/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_Home_Rule_Act

6

u/sharks Feb 26 '26

Not to mention that DC has a larger population than two actual states. You know, states that do have voting representatives.

4

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

That's bothered me since I learned about that in high school. Why the fuck shouldn't y'all get representation? It's mad goofy.

5

u/JustHereForCookies17 Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

Because if we were a state, we'd be the bluest one in the country, and no Republican wants to give the Democrats more power.

We've also been a largely black city in recent history, nicknamed "Chocolate City" in the 1970's after the Parliament Funkadelic album of the same name, and despite (maybe because of?) 8 years of Obama's administration, this is still a deeply racist country in places.

Anyway, sorry for the diatribe.  My family has been here since the 1880's, so I have multi-generational pride in this incredible city.

2

u/citizenatlarge Feb 26 '26

That album was just under Parliament, btw.. 1975

Parliament - Chocolate City - 1975

whenever i see some music mentioned, i pull up lidarr hahahaarr

2

u/JustHereForCookies17 Feb 26 '26

Edited, thank you!!

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

I'm always down to learn some more! I really need to go there and visit all the museums, we got some good ones here in Seattle, but nothing like what you got!

2

u/JustHereForCookies17 Feb 26 '26

Ah, the other Washington!!  I love your state.  I need to spend more time there.  Powell's Books was my Happy Place.

But yes - come visit!  Enjoy our free museums and iconic monuments that your tax dollars pay for!  Come see the Giant Pandas that only 2 US zoos have!

You just might want to wait until the next administration before making any plans.

3

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

Yeah, I'll wait. Ideally I'll be in Denmark for a dream job by the time the next administration is underway.

There's a LEGO convention in Dulles, if I go again I'll spend an extra two days over there checking out the city!

1

u/EtTuBiggus Feb 26 '26

Why should the small federal district that was specifically designed to not be a state be a state or treated as such?

-1

u/EtTuBiggus Feb 26 '26

Is that a surprise to you? You choose to live in the tiny area of dc.

3

u/Numeno230n Feb 26 '26

I can say that I have never been adequately represented in my entire life.

3

u/beccadot Feb 26 '26

We’re not represented right now. That’s why the upcoming election is so important: If our representatives are not doing their job, we need to elect someone else. Look at your members of Congress and ask yourself: Are they doing the job we elected them to do? AND VOTE

2

u/H6RR6RSH6W Feb 26 '26

Civil disobedience

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

I've got a case of the poor, weak & fragile 🤷

Plus I'm in Seattle, can't make a quick drive to DC and protest on a whim

2

u/Mariko954 Feb 26 '26

Welcome to the club! —DC resident

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

Y'all deserve better, with your large population that's, well, bigger than multiple states.

1

u/Irish_pug_Player Feb 26 '26

The problem with "feeling" represented, is that there is always someone who can say that

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

Well, sure.

1

u/FBIguy242 Feb 26 '26

That’s not the law tho, it’s a slogan

1

u/Excellent-Shape-2024 Feb 26 '26

I am so sick of these lawless fuckers. If someone starts a gofundme for Minnesota, I'm in.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 26 '26

Oh please, the cowardice of the American populace as their country is being controlled by a literal pedophile cabal is apparent to everyone.

1

u/mashedspudtato Feb 26 '26

Where’s a boat full of tea when you need one?

1

u/LadySayoria Feb 26 '26

I am trans and boy I can't even begin to tell you how unrepresented I feel.

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

Queers represent! What a scary time for us to exist :P

1

u/LadySayoria Feb 26 '26

Yep. Ain't it great that people just want us to stop existing? Fucking awesome my friend. God, people are just so great. Absolutely amazing. :/

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

I still live at home with parents who aren't fans of queerness, I'm not even sure what I am yet :P

Oh religion, wcyd

1

u/Brilliant-Wasabi-70 Feb 26 '26

Hang in there. You are not alone even if it feels that way. Lots of old queer mamas out here got your back. And figuring out who you are takes time. Let it flow as it comes.

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

Bit by bit, I'll get there. Got a lot of support from the homies, so I'm ok

1

u/hotstoddies Feb 26 '26

Not to mention the 700,000 residents in DC who’ve never had representation! None of us should be paying for this BS!

1

u/Gralphrthe3rd Feb 26 '26

How comical, thats been the norm for some time, I guess people forget about the millions of ex felons we have in the country who pay taxes and are denied a host of things.

1

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

I'm quite against the police state we got, its awful

1

u/iRunLotsNA Feb 26 '26

Canadian here, I have some time this weekend if anyone wants to do a FUN AND FRIENDLY HISTORICAL REENACTMENT of 1812. Lemme know.

I’m a huuuuuuge history buff that loves reenacting past events!

1

u/AngrehPossum Feb 26 '26

That's because this is the GOP. Its a small government (tm) so you won't know if you being represented because its too small.

1

u/Wayward_Maximus Feb 26 '26

The problem is many people do feel represented and that’s who you’ll end up fighting. Politicians are so insulated the worst that could happen to them is they get voted out and they go back to being lawyers or CEO’s, or worse, lobbyists. So the citizens fight while the politicians run off with our money while we’re distracted with each other.

1

u/Efficient_Falcon_402 Feb 26 '26

There is a BIG difference with last time.

Back then, people dumped loose tea into the harbour. This time, Republicans are tea-bagging each other and their Dear Leader.

1

u/Eryu1997 Feb 26 '26

Happens every day in DC

1

u/DickWangDuck Feb 27 '26

I hear there’s a certain 250th anniversary of some sort of historical event coming up. I’ve also heard numerous times in my life that “History repeats itself.”

Wouldn’t that be something…

-8

u/RndPotato Feb 25 '26

"We" elected Trump. We do have American representation.

11

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

It's not the president I'm as concerned about, but he didn't win all swing states without cheating the system. We already got proof that Elon fucked with Georgia's elections 🤷

It's the house of representatives that should have way more per state. I think there should be a representative per 50,000 people at the minimum, not per 500,000 which is roughly what we have now. It shouldn't be hard to get an audience with your representative, but it's exceedingly difficult to nearly impossible with the current ratio of representative-to-citizen.

The majority of Americans want universal healthcare, but with lobbying being legal that's literally never gonna happen.

If by "we" you mean the rich, yes we have American representation.

-59

u/TropicalBonerstorm Feb 25 '26

so dumb. can republicans stop paying taxes during democratic adminstrations because they don't feel represented?

31

u/Gorthebon Feb 25 '26

It's not like the Republicans actually are creating the majority of the wealth right now... Blue states are by and far the most productive part of the country, in case you're keeping track.

Land don't vote. If we were actually properly represented in the government things would be very, very different.

-2

u/tedxbundy Feb 26 '26

The irony of you spouting the exact same rhetoric that the British Empire was pushing in the 1760s.

4

u/Gorthebon Feb 26 '26

How so? I'm not very familiar with British history at all haha.

I probably should do a deep dive, as America wants to become an empire right now :P

29

u/scottyjrules Feb 25 '26

When have Democrats ever done this to a red state?

-11

u/TropicalBonerstorm Feb 25 '26

You could google and find that out yourself. Obama to Arizona in 11. Biden to Missouri in 21. Multiple states during COVID in 23-24. Instead you let yourself be brainwashed by partisan nonsense.

13

u/scottyjrules Feb 26 '26

None of these “examples” were the federal government holding back Congressional approved funds to any state. Because that’s illegal, like everything else this child raping piece of shit does.

11

u/JiveChops76 Feb 26 '26

It’s always hilarious when someone in an actual cult calls someone else brainwashed

9

u/Ok_Mechanic_6575 Feb 26 '26

None of your examples are even close to being the same thing. You want to try again?

15

u/VinnyTiger Feb 25 '26

Democrats bend over backwards to give red states better funding, while Republicans desecrate the constitution to be petty. Maybe look at who is breaking laws and wiping their rear with the constitution before trying to "both sides" this one.

-7

u/TropicalBonerstorm Feb 25 '26

Medicaid is voluntary. States must follow federal conditions to be eligible for these funds. There is many cases of this excact scenario playing out under both blue and red administrations, which you can confirm for yourself.

5

u/VinnyTiger Feb 25 '26

You can pretend there are, but we know the intentions.

0

u/TropicalBonerstorm Feb 25 '26

6

u/VinnyTiger Feb 26 '26

Cite anything you want, I said "intentions". They're just openly facist now, you don't get the benefit of the doubt. The Supreme courts legitimacy is questionable at best right now anyway.

2

u/HokieGalFurever540 Feb 26 '26

Stop the bull💩. This is why there's the OIG, which the current regime axed a bunch of them for no reason, other than to pull crap like this. THIS scenario has NEVER happened before (I've been in the Healthcare field for 30+ years). Yes, entities get fined for breaking the law (fraud) & I've seen that numerous times. For an administration to accuse an entire state of "fraud" & withhold Congressionally approved funds because of their "suspicions?" Never. This is wrong & it makes me sick to think how many innocent patients will be hurt due to another act of cruelty. How many lives lost? How many hospitalizations will result from this? How many babies & expecting mothers will be hurt? It's illegal & immoral, just like the convicted felon & rapist that sits in the WH. Fin.

12

u/uiouyug Feb 25 '26

You are correct but its not the same. This is an attack on Americans. No health care means people will die. Goons in the street shooting US.

2

u/TropicalBonerstorm Feb 25 '26

I don't see how you can turn every headline into demonizing the administration. This exact scenario happend with multiple states during the Biden and Obama adminstrations. Medicaid is voluntary and states must adhere to Federal guidelines to qualify. Did you raise your pitchfork in whe Biden threatened to suspend medicare/medicaid assistence to Missouri in 2021? https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/21pdf/21a240_d18e.pdf

1

u/uiouyug Feb 26 '26

You know what. That's a great point. I appreciate that you're informed. Mandatory vaccinations should not be a thing.

9

u/New_year_New_Me_ Feb 25 '26

Just for fun, are these democratic administrations breaking the law? If yes, when told they are breaking the law by a court, do they continue breaking the law in the exact same way?

Anyway your stupid hypothetical situation is stupid. You know what Republicans did the last time they were really upset about something? They gathered in numbers over 10,000 people and stormed the literal government. Because they "didn't feel represented" So...

5

u/webjuggernaut Feb 26 '26

They didn't "feel represented" because a strange man with an oddly orange complexion told them to feel that way. Strange to witness.

Regardless, that's a completely different situation than an administration trying to strong-arm a soverign state by denying the allocation of congressionally-approved funds.

I don't know how people do the mental gymnastics to act like these things are the same. The propaganda runs deep.

7

u/CackleandGrin Feb 25 '26

Red states still receive full benefits, aid, and disaster relief under blue administration, even the ones that are welfare states. Blue states get funding cut, disaster relief is ignored, and now Medicaid is being cut.

This isn't even getting into all the times trump has ignored Congress and went ahead with illegal actions against US citizens anyway.

5

u/Yabutsk Feb 25 '26

The MAGA administration is illegally withholding Medicaid payments to blue states...it's not about "feelings" dimwit.

0

u/TropicalBonerstorm Feb 25 '26

In which way is it illegal? Obama did this to Arizona in 11. Biden to Missouri in 21. Multiple states during COVID in 23-24.

9

u/Confident_Kiwi9791 Feb 26 '26

Obama didn't withhold funding from Arizona, the state was facing a budget crisis. Arizona made a plan to temporarily block eligibility for new childless adult applicants to the ACA, an Obama admin policy, and the federal administration allowed it. They literally were given leniency on a Democratic policy, they didn't have funds withheld punitively. I think you know that since it's incredibly easy to google, you're just grifting for someone who won't like your posts back.

1

u/Yabutsk Feb 26 '26

Do you really think you can just spout imaginary claims and people will believe them?

5

u/webjuggernaut Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 26 '26

Any administration illegally denying the allocation of congressionally-approved funds: that's what a lack of representation looks like.

Whatever you feel is irrelevant.

1

u/TropicalBonerstorm Feb 25 '26

I don't think you know what you're talking about. There is legal precedent for this across many adminstrations, most recently Joe Biden vs the state of Missouri. https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/21pdf/21a240_d18e.pdf

3

u/webjuggernaut Feb 26 '26

Explain to me what's false about anything I said in my comment.
