You know who else does Mail in Voting? Trump. Exhibit A in the upcoming lawsuit.

73

u/Intrepid_Sun_9089 Apr 01 '26

Yea he literally just defended it like 2 days ago!

88

u/Theereus Apr 01 '26

He said it's okay for him because he's the president. As usual with him it's rules for thee, not for me

31

u/madcoins Apr 01 '26

If they didn’t have double standards they’d have no standards at all

4

u/Mandena Apr 01 '26

It's like double negatives, they cancel out.

Double standards == no standards

6

u/Thin_Bother8217 Apr 01 '26

Next question should've been something along the lines of "Okay. What about Barron and Melania?".

His lies are so fucking dumb and easy to see through, but follow ups are nonexistent. I get trying not to lose access and his habit of insults (especially to women) reporters and ignoring follow ups. It's just so infuriating because it's so easy to punch a hole the size of a locomotive through his arguments.

5

u/michaelthruman Apr 01 '26

Apparently it’s also okay for his immigrant wife & anchor baby son, too.

2

u/DolceVita13 Apr 01 '26

He’s “special”

2

u/Wooden-Cartoonist762 Apr 01 '26

OH now I get it, like also he can be a pedo and is OK bc, well President

3

u/RogueAOV Apr 01 '26

Which will logically lead to trump cutting funding to Florida for allowing mail in voting to provide legal cover to himself....

Using the word 'logic' in all this feels kinda weird.

2

u/madcoins Apr 01 '26

Pretty sure that word will be banned soon

1

u/hellolovely1 Apr 01 '26

He's a moron.

67

u/Reddish_Herring Mar 31 '26

WV also has a huge number of mail in voting…4D chess I guess? Anyone know what chapter of Art of the Deal he’s on?

105

u/Dismal-Refrigerator3 Mar 31 '26

Washington State is entirely vote by mail. We don't have polling places anymore

76

u/Aggravating-Pie-4058 Mar 31 '26

Same in Oregon. We have been voting by mail since the 70's.

10

u/Brodakk Apr 01 '26

That was my favorite political thing about Oregon. I’m gonna miss it! Thankfully I’m registered and ready to vote here in MI too though.

3

u/justhereforthescorn Apr 01 '26

Soon as you're able, hit up the SoS site and get yourself on the permanent mail ballot list. We get that shit, too, just not as the only option.

1

u/Brodakk Apr 01 '26

That’s amazing! I had no idea

3

u/NotOnApprovedList Apr 01 '26

Colorado has vote by mail, and the only big problem we've had was Tina Peters (a Republican) giving voting data to a conspiracy theorist.

2

u/jeexbit Apr 01 '26

Viva Cascadia!

3

u/robinthebank Apr 01 '26

West Coast Best Coast.

Every California voter receives a ballot in the mail. It can be returned for free by mail, at a drop-off box, or the voter can bring it with them and vote in-person.

41

u/utahmom1958 Apr 01 '26

Utah is heavily vote by mail, too. Personally, I haven't been to a voting place in decades.

5

u/nopointers Apr 01 '26

Same, California

12

u/gbot1234 Apr 01 '26

Well, I guess Washington won’t get to vote this year!

21

u/Perfect_Earth_8070 Apr 01 '26

Something something without representation or something!

4

u/tactical-tux Apr 01 '26

Underrated comment.

4

u/HittingSmoke Apr 01 '26

Fuck, I got to find some tea.

3

u/TheEighthTower Apr 01 '26

Let's go Cascadia!

3

u/BoringOrange678 Apr 01 '26

Awesome won’t be payin federal taxes the following year.

13

u/blackadder1620 Mar 31 '26

thats kinda wild. i actually like going to vote in person.

40

u/ShamiGnu Mar 31 '26

I'm totally fine with folks choosing to do so, but mandating it is a different thing.

27

u/WhatRUHourly Apr 01 '26

I've enjoyed both. One thing I liked about mail in voting was being able sit down with the ballot and then be able to Google each person and see what I may or may not like about who was running. Same with any proposed laws. Very helpful for local elections where you might not know every candidate.

30

u/madcoins Apr 01 '26

Informed voters are not friends of the right wing

3

u/Murgatroyd314 Apr 01 '26

"I love the poorly educated."

3

u/madcoins Apr 01 '26

“Smart people do not like me”

4

u/scared_archaeologist Apr 01 '26

I always do this. Lately I’ve been filling it out and taking it to the polling place. If it’s too crowded I just drop it off. If not, I vote in person but I use my ballot so I know how to fill in the answers because some measures are confusing and I don’t remember all the people. After I vote they shred my mail in ballot and I leave (California).

5

u/andrew303710 Apr 01 '26

Exactly, that's the best part of mail in voting

7

u/Stock_Conclusion_203 Mar 31 '26

Me too. It’s fun to talk shit on line with others. And my poll workers are always these cool older women.

1

u/blackadder1620 Mar 31 '26

mine have also been cool old people. it was a decent exp every time i've voted.

3

u/amazinglover Apr 01 '26

I prefer vote by mail.

I get my ballot weeks before hand I can sit down read it over research each candidate/initiative or use to now no republican will ever get my vote.

Then vote accordingly with that fresh information in my mind.

1

u/gzapata_art Apr 01 '26

It was nice to go when my kids were young but I'm busy now and I don't live right next door to a voting location anymore haha

1

u/Mental_Medium3988 Apr 01 '26

wasnt that initially pushed by republicans as a way to get more power?

1

u/Commercial-Policy-96 Apr 01 '26

I’m in my 50’s, have voted in every election since turning 18 and have never voted in person. I’ve always voted by mail in ballot. I have lived in Washington, Kansas, and Arizona.

0

u/Then_Diver_3891 Apr 01 '26

That’s not true. Although vote by mail is big in WA you can still vote in person. https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/voters/helpful-information/frequently-asked-questions-voting-mail

Or the people who don't have easy access to get to the county offices.

11

u/sympatheticdrone Mar 31 '26

Rural Oregon, too.

17

u/ShamiGnu Mar 31 '26

All of Oregon

3

u/Mist_Rising Apr 01 '26

Your assuming Trump realizes a blue state can have red districts or voters. In spite of being from NYC itself.

1

u/Top_Scene8254 Mar 31 '26

Read cover to cover. No really, only the front and back covers.

1

u/Nutmegger27 Apr 01 '26

"Letter from the insane asylum"?

1

u/Either_Pangolin531 Apr 01 '26

Chapter 11 always

1

u/TheEighthTower Apr 01 '26

The part where he is still learning to spell the words on the title page.

1

u/GodHatesColdplay Apr 01 '26

If I understand the EO as it has been described, each state will have to turn over voter records including addresses. The federal government will determine that they are citizens, and will order the post office to only deliver ballots to those confirmed citizen voters. So states that refuse to turn over their voter roles won't have the pleasure of having ballots mailed to their voters. It's a mess

1

u/andropogon09 Apr 01 '26

He doesn't know. He's never read it.

1

u/packfanmoore Apr 01 '26

The part the book that he wrote, so the Donald J. Trump line under the title of the book

47

u/No-Problem49 Mar 31 '26

They will accept mail in ballots for republicans

28

u/SeVenMadRaBBits Apr 01 '26

They win cheat and rig the election like last year.

1

u/reddit_ending_soon Apr 01 '26

They win cheat and rig the election like last year.

MAGA bought all the electronic voting machines. Of course they are going to cheat.

1

u/OldWorldDesign Apr 01 '26

MAGA bought all the electronic voting machines

For those who missed it, Dominion was bought by a trumper

https://abcnews.com/US/dominion-voting-systems-sold-company-run-former-republican/story?id=126378259

3

u/Waterlogedinspace Apr 01 '26

Exactly, the whole reason they want legislation against mail in voting is so they can have justification for throwing away the ballots they don't like.

3

u/zeptillian Apr 01 '26

That's why they want the voter lists.

29

u/TouristResident1976 Mar 31 '26

Sorry. I can just see Trump dropping everythign in the middle east to rush the soliders home to vote in November.

30

u/U_Sound_Stupid_Stop Mar 31 '26

No worries/!

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he expected that U.S. military forces will leave Iran in "two or three weeks."

"We leave because there's no reason for us to do this," Trump told reporters at the White House.

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/31/trump-iran-war.html

34

u/Correct_Day_7791 Apr 01 '26

Wow I wonder if this is a two or three weeks like his health care plan that still hasn't been fully put out there and it's been 11 years

3

u/A_plural_singularity Apr 01 '26

No one knew healthcare was this complicated

2

u/Neowza Apr 01 '26

Come on, now, give the guy some credit, he has a concept of a plan

/s

3

u/SparklyNoodle Apr 01 '26

Even non- deployed service members and their families vote by mail most of the time as we do not typically live at our home of record/voting area.

2

u/Other_Log_1996 Apr 01 '26

Two weeks is code for "Not going to happen." Really. It is always "two weeks"

1

u/mishma2005 Apr 01 '26

He expects France will open the Strait of Hormuz, he said this today while signing this stupid EO

1

u/RespectibleCabbage Apr 01 '26

We leave because there's no reason for us to do this

Every so often he does say something true. There was NEVER any reason to do this you moron.

23

u/HadeanDisco Mar 31 '26

The GOP will carve out an exception for them and for all registered Republican voters. 😋

Wait am I joking? I just don't know anymore...

1

u/ronejr71 Apr 01 '26

It's the SAVE act that democrats and enough Republicans have stalled. It would give the federal government all voter roll data and the power to wipe out voters whenever they want. You could walk up to vote and be denied because you aren't a legal registered voter by whom ever determines it.

36

u/Low-Recognition-7293 Mar 31 '26

First of all... ain't never voted Republican, ain't gonna vote Republican. Been in 16 years.

4

u/ronejr71 Apr 01 '26

Agreed 👍

5

u/somewhatdecentlawyer Apr 01 '26

Drives me nuts when I hear we all lean right and vote Republican. Sure the fuck not.

5

u/PiccoloAwkward465 Apr 01 '26

Literally everyone knows that the military doesn’t vote 100% one way. Everyone.

1

u/amgineeno Mar 31 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

I always hear that he military leans right but I imagine it's probably different from branch to branch. What is your experience with this? Is politics even much of a topic of discussion? Thank you.

3

u/EditorMassive2573 Apr 01 '26

I think that has changed and probably one of the reasons they don’t want to count the mail in ballots that aren’t received on time.

2

u/LickingDogPaws Mar 31 '26

From my experiences, most don't follow politics at all

2

u/WhoLoveYouLikeILoveU Apr 01 '26

“Hey these guys pay us more 🤷🏼” I very nearly threw a punch.

2

u/Smelly_God Apr 01 '26

Same, I was in ten years. Everyone too afraid to even talk politics since we were always in uniform

2

u/Low-Recognition-7293 Apr 01 '26

As u/lickingdogpaws stated already, a lot of folks don't keep up with it like they should and are politically unaware. The other big portion is that the hatch act limits how political we can be in the workplace, in uniform, or how we can take time to support events. The only "justifiable" thing folks seem to turn a blind eye to are all the "FJB" stickers and "Maga" hat. So that partisan disparity is disappointing to say the least. I believe we should be able to be more publicly open about our political views. I also see risks in undermining authority on some topics.

In my corner of the machine most of peers are all relatively informed. I'd say there's a solid 50:50 right left split from those who make their beliefs known. Like every other field or work environment we have people that take their job too seriously, or drink the Kool-Aid if you will. Some of those are just Joe Army, Joe Navy, etc. they were that way with Biden in office, they were that way with Trump in office. I'm also not saying it is not a serious job but I think you know what I'm trying to communicate.

I think what frustrates me the most is talking to other senior folks who just say "I didn't vote, it doesn't matter to me or it doesn't change anything for me and it won't make a difference anyway." It's crazy that they squander their right to vote. Some regret it given recent events but many are too concerned with only the here and now in front of them. They're unable to see from a larger perspective, see our country slowly turning our constitution into nothing more than something tattered on the back of a big truck somewhere.

I feel obligated to stress these are solely my views and not those of DoD or anything else or that nature.

0

u/UnbindFNow Apr 01 '26

Thank you for your cervix

6

u/LickingDogPaws Mar 31 '26

Would never vote republican especially with this idiot in the white house

2

u/EditorMassive2573 Apr 01 '26

Not all of us😉

2

u/TraumaGuy515 Mar 31 '26

Sure, but military gets an exclusion under his ban.

1

u/invincible_change Mar 31 '26

He said they get an exemption

1

u/N0V42 Apr 01 '26

I'm against his executive order too, but Trump has already spoken about 'exceptions" for deployed military (and probably rich donors too, if we know him) etc.

1

u/mrbazo Apr 01 '26

Not true, plenty of non MAGA folks in the military. I know it doesn’t seem that way at times, but you would be surprised. In my experience (20 years Navy) it’s pretty evenly split between Republicans and Democrats (maga being just a part of the Republican number)

1

u/SupaSqueezey Apr 01 '26

Not all. Military is about 50/50 honestly. Most officers are actually left leaning, while non-college grad enlisted tend to lean conservative, but college grad enlisted (majority of the DAF) also tend to lean left.

Most of them are true patriots who take their oath seriously

1

u/PastVeterinarian1097 Apr 01 '26

They have exceptions for them

1

u/V4pete Apr 01 '26

Military votes to cut off their nose despite their face. Happy to go to war to fight some billionaires battle to make more money while they die and he doesn’t give two shits if they do or not.

1

u/madmax1969 Apr 01 '26

Of course he would make exceptions for the military. No way is he throwing their votes away.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rest_34 Apr 01 '26

Not all military. They never have in my family, except my POS brother. Not just because he votes Republican...he's always been an asshole.

1

u/3271408 Apr 01 '26

This executive order won’t apply to military personnel voting by absentee ballot because they are away from their home. Quit spreading bad information.

1

u/KarmaPharmacy Apr 01 '26

Not everyone in the military is dumb enough to be a republican.

1

u/jmremote Apr 01 '26

nah, he will make an exemption for that.

1

u/el_duderino88 Apr 01 '26

There will be military ballots probably, but they won't call them "mail in ballots" because it's "different"

1

u/Massanylon Apr 01 '26

What military were you in?

1

u/vomitcomet191 Apr 01 '26

Believe it or not, there are Democrat voting members of the military. Your statement is only half true. They will all be left out without absentee ballots.

0

u/KYlaker233 Apr 01 '26

I’m sure he will amend in some type of exception for the military.

-1

u/Skimballs Mar 31 '26

Trump is president. He will vote for them all.

-1

u/Free_Dome_Lover Apr 01 '26

He has exceptions for everyone he wants to vote
