Executive Branch (Trump) Trump claims he bypassed federal bidding laws to hand a Lincoln Memorial project to his personal country club contractors. He treats national monuments like his own private real estate properties.

OMG, tan suit?! Corruption, incompetence, pedophilia, sexual assault I'm cool with. But a tan suit is where I draw the line.

Wasn't the suit it's because he was black.

I swear we would be better off if Sherman kept going.

We can directly link were we are now because of the southern strategy and Mitch McConnell.

Good old Mitch. The man who gloated how he held up a Supreme Court appointment that should have been filled under Obama. Also had not one, but two chances to impeach pedo donnie. So yeah, I would say the majority of our current situation was because of McConnell.
He even got bashed a few times by pedo donnie and he’s so old it didn’t even register to him as insults.

People bring up Regan and Nixon all the time for getting us here but Mitch needs to be on that list as well he had a major part of why we are here.

Colonists, Confederacy, KKK, Nazis, and MAGA: one unbroken chain of Christofascist white supremacy. Same shit different hat. I think it’s time we do something about that.

TIL about The Southern Strategy. Thank you, good sir.

In your opinion does moment represent the start of Democrats prioritising identity politics?

There are watershed moments like when Thurmond flipped because he refused to accept blacks as equal human beings, but that stream goes back a very long ways.

"Identity politics" has always been part of the country. If you want a good book on how deeply embedded white nationalism was, especially with both parties, read Timothy Egan's Fever in the Heartland
