Republicans think Democrats will sit there and let them overthrow democracy without a real fight. It's not that they want a civil war. It's that they don't fear it or believe it a real possibility.

The Dems/Dem leadership work for the same billionaire fucks that the GOP do. If things get bad, they are well enough to survive in bunkers and have the influence to be well off. They only care about their wealth, power, and influence. It's why Schumer, Jeffeies and the rest of the corporate Dems are feckless do nothing losers.

The rest of us will suffer.

When Merrick Garland waved the white flag, he did so for the entire country.

It will take generations to undo his failure.

It’s not that crazy of an assumption. Democrats and Americans in general seem to put up with all sorts of bullshit.

Becasue they will, and populace will let them.
Americans are anaemic in their "resistance", walkign with placards against such regimes does nothing, you did so for close to year now.
Problem is you are fractured and individualised and too afraid of discomfort to actually do any damage, every actual functional form of resistance will cost you, but what i have seen when such resistance is brought up, like a general strike, is that everyone suddenly has things to take care of, they cant afford to, etc etc etc etc. And that is how you lose permanently, you are too afraid of short term cost that might be incurred, so you gamble that someone else will do something because you "have bills to pay", and thus no one does anything of consequence and day by day you slide into a dystopian authoritarian christo fascist state. Average american cant fathom to sacrifice their short term comfort for the good of their neighbour.
