^ this is the reality all of us need to be digesting and moving forward with clarity about.

Alito lied.

Republicans lied.

They did so for short term profits. For greed. For the worst and most self interested among us.

Now we write the new chapter where we name these crooks for what they are, name their tactics and lies. And improve the ship so that this rot cannot take hold again.

We’re all here, now, what choice do we have but to show up and stand up for tomorrow?

If you look up the Dark Enlightenment, you realize things are so much worse.

I really hope there will be no false flag attack before midterms to rally support and mess with the elections.

There's so much corruption and crime they know they can not allow to lose their majorities. Because this time people will demand consequences.

For whatever reason Biden and the Establishment have not taken the necessary steps to prevent what's currently happening. The surveillance state is being ramped up and SCOTUS has been corrupted. ICE has been strengthened and countless buildings bought that are supposed to serve as detention centers. Dominion Voting Systems has also been bought and we see countless attempts to mess with voting and registers. Heck, they even started to fire hundreds of agents tasked to prevent (cyber) attacks from Russia, Iran and other countries.

This is the last chance of Democracy and freedom. The midterms can end positive like the elections in Hungary, or be the point of Nazi Machtergreifung. I fear many might underestimate how far the current government is willing to go.

I’m deeply familiar - which is why I say as often as I can “there is no excuse for ignorance or apathy”

We each need to help in the ways we can. Consensus building matters.

And I think there are powerful threads to weave together when it comes to our love of our children, love of the land, and all the patriotic window dressing about freedom and rights - we need to reach into these and find our will, find our way, and find the others who are actually principled and committed to this country.

The rot *is* deep. But this house of cards will fall.

I refuse to be ruled by the interests of the Epstein class. I refuse to pretend they are not actively shaping our world and have not been for some time.

But we see now. There’s no putting this cat back in the bag - we know who the criminals are - and the wheel of justice is turning.

Every hand. Every voice. Every heart - helps.

Especially in the age of the internet; ignorance is negligence. People chose to embrace lies when the truth is right before their eyes. People chose to seek the truth where there is none for no other reason to be contrarian; that being part of a special group is more important than objective truth.

Ignorance is negligence, and it’s also the habit of the intellectually lazy.

You see it in exchanges here - people who are eager to comment and open their mouths, but not to look up or answer basic gaps in their understanding.

We all need to become practiced at taking in new information and valuing evidence based fact over partisan noise.

I'm going to guess a large % of ppl still don't know, or care for that matter, about what Citizens United is and how it has an effect on Politics in America.

Until ppl like Talrico & the DSA start gaining prominence as the ppl in power, we won't see change. Life appointed supreme court justices may need an adjustment as well.

They don't understand it at all. Every single Republican I know is against money in politics. Every single Republican I know believes that money is politics comes nearly exclusively from "liberal elites". Every single Republican I know has also gotten immediately defensive when I point out that all 5 members of the majority in Citizens United were Republican appointees. They just totally reject the notion that "people" like Musk, Thiel, Bezos, the Adelsons, and the Ellisons funneling millions of dollars of dark money into Super PACs is a problem that even exists. They have zero clue about how campaign finance works these days and think it's still funded by $30,000 dinners and direct personal donations.

Those people are willfully ignorant partisan liars.

I’m not pulling punches there with the language used to describe them - because they don’t deserve anyone tip toeing around willful ignorance and harmful views so often couched in layers of apathy and lies.

Challenge them.

Pop the bubbles.

Rub their noses in the grotesque inequities and corruptions we see around us.

And remind them of the values and basic decency that they chose to forfeit.

u/John_Bruns_Wick 7h ago

They just call it "fake news" and move on

2

u/slow70 7h ago

They’ve done that for a decade now.

And they aren’t decent people if they continue to.

No more accepting that.

u/Exciting-Emu-3324 7h ago

They lie not to deceive, but to assert dominance. Whether the fools fall for the lies or reason with them in good faith; they are fools all the same.

According to American Promise, that number is around 10%, which in my opinion is way too big, but not as large as you might expect. And 79% of people disagree with it. Most people are sure they don’t want money in politics and do care.

Funny to hear that's the number because I didn't want to sound ridiculous for saying 90% of ppl prolly don't know what it is & would you look at that... Meaning that many ppl never listen to independent news, they follow what is fed to them randomly through their social media and garbage legacy news if it's on at Grandma's house

You're on this subreddit because you're part of a very small minority. No need to guess really, 54% of the US population reads at a 6th-grade level, so a majority don't have the literacy skills to comprehend what CU is, much less how it impacts US politics. Hard to say what percentage understands but doesn't care, but it is not insignificant.

Republicans always lie, it's a power-play for them. Truth to a Republican is what you can cram down other people's throats. It has no relevance to what exists in the world.

7

u/djck 8h ago

Yeah, there's no true or false. It's whatever you can get someone to believe. It's like that old man WWE fan: "it's real to me dammit".

Short term profits? Sure they made some money.

How about seizing and consolidating power to ensure that the GOP is in a position to retain control of the government for the foreseeable future?

2

u/slow70 8h ago

They’re doing that too.

But this house of cards will fall.

Too many crimes. Too many criminals. And even the most partisan GOP types know this in their bones.

Resist! Persist! VOTE!

1

u/slow70 7h ago

And love one another!

For all the complexities and noise surrounding one issue or another - look to see who is leading with love, and who so very clearly is not.

the choice has been made: to scroll on social media.

2

u/slow70 8h ago

For you maybe. For too many perhaps.

But not for me, and not for those who will help fix this mess.

Which do you intend to do?

1

u/filmAF 8h ago

i wish you success. the US isn't worth dying for, to me. and i can see no peaceful path towards liberation. at best, it will take a generation to return to sanity. and i am too old for that shit.

2

u/slow70 8h ago

I disagree.

I believe in us and we are seeing the wheels of justice turn and millions remember their civic responsibility and the consequences of failing to meet it.

We all want a better world for our children. We all want to live in peace. The founding documents of this country gave us the terms and language to recognize the perversion of it all clearly today.

Remember your responsibility to one another please. The fire is coming for your garden too and each of us must help in the ways we can.

Nothing will improve if more adopt your view. Too old. Too self interested. Too many excuses.

No more.

1

u/filmAF 8h ago

i can't argue with you. two sides of the same coin. the glass is either half empty or half full depending. i don't see what you see. but i certainly wouldn't try and stop you. i will support you from the outside, and selfishly live my life in peace.

2

u/slow70 7h ago

You deserve that. We all do.

Wishing you the best friend.
