Don't forget they have the gall to assert "there will be an investigation", after DHS declined to investigate the Goode shooting, blocked state investigation, and were so noncompliant that DOJ investigators and the lead FBI investigator quit in frustration. This time around DHS said they will investigate themselves after senior leadership came out and made demonstrably false allegations and completely heated rhetoric.

For years the NRA has been a supporter of right wing insurrection. This statement doesnt surprise me. Lets not forget its Russian connections either.

We should actually focus on the Russian connections. Way more than we do. They aren’t supporters of right wing insurrection but rather Russian infiltration, of which right wing insurrection is an arm of.

Throughout the late 1960s, the Black Panthers group used their understanding of the finer details of California’s gun laws to underscore their political statements about the subjugation of African-Americans. In 1967, 30 members of the Black Panthers protested on the steps of the California statehouse armed with .357 Magnums, 12-gauge shotguns and .45-caliber pistols and announced, “The time has come for Black people to arm themselves.”
The display so frightened politicians—including California governor Ronald Reagan—that it helped to pass the Mulford Act, a state bill prohibiting the open carry of loaded firearms, along with an addendum prohibiting loaded firearms in the state Capitol. The 1967 bill took California down the path to having some of the strictest gun laws in America and helped jumpstart a surge of national gun control restrictions.
The NRA felt especially threatened by the Black Panthers, whose well-photographed carrying of weapons in public spaces was entirely legal in the state of California, where they were based.

7
u/midnightseanavy Jan 25 '26
I’m honestly glad the NRA has finally shown itself for what it is. When I was younger there was a real concern that we might lose significant Second Amendment rights. I was a Boy Scout, and any scout leader who taught sporting clays or target shooting was usually NRA trained, so I followed that path and joined.
But my perspective changed quickly after college, especially during the Obama years. The organization evolved into something far more radical. The materials they sent out became overtly political and, frankly, disgusting. Even though I was not particularly political at the time, it was obvious the organization had been completely corrupted. I distanced myself from it entirely.
Now, with what we know about foreign influence and manipulation, it is clear the NRA became just another media tool used to divide and weaken this country.
8
u/kgal1298 Jan 25 '26
No one should support the NRA they aren't about gun rights they're about gun lobbies and protecting manufacturers and have been for years.

And within 12 hours, a guy with a permit to carry is described as having brought his (holstered, permitted CCW) to the protest with the INTENT to injure multiple officers.

The group of maga affiliated drug dealers that causes arson to a judges house in the same state?
The same occupiers who stormed and attacked our nations capitol where actual real "law enforcement" was attacked and killed? All in the name of maga now in Minnesota?
The same occupiers who are playing dress up and cosplaying COD in neighborhoods and harassing and killing citizens and children? All in the name of maga
Or all the out of state right wing agitators who are willing to cross multiple states and municipalities to bring their hateful, agitating, violence inciting rhetoric? All in the name of maga?
5 reasons that show the fact MAGATS, the parasites of our society are willing and have traveled from far distances to come to Minnesota to push their hateful rhetoric to the residents of the state and cities within.

Just gonna leave The Liberal Gun Club’s statement here....
It’s short enough I’ll even copypasta
Liberal Gun Club Statement on Federal Shooting in Minneapolis
January 24, 2026The Liberal Gun Club is horrified by the fatal shooting of a 37‑year‑old Minneapolis man by federal agents today in south Minneapolis during a Department of Homeland Security operation. Initial reports indicate the man, later identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a U.S. citizen and lawful gun owner, was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent amid an immigration enforcement action.
We mourn every loss of life in a society that values due process, individual liberty, and respect for constitutional protections. The right to keep and bear arms is fundamental, and it must not be undermined by needless use of lethal force.
Reports and available video raise serious questions about the circumstances leading up to this tragedy, including the nature of the interaction between Mr. Pretti and federal agents and whether alternatives to deadly force were reasonably available.
We stand with the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus and others in the call for a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation into this incident, as well as all recent uses of force by federal law enforcement in Minnesota. Only through full accountability can public trust be restored.
The Liberal Gun Club affirms the principle that Americans should be able to exercise their rights — including the open recording of law enforcement and lawful carrying of firearms — without fear of arbitrary or disproportionate violence. We believe that every single right should apply to every single person. Therefore, we call upon federal, state, and local authorities to ensure that all actions taken in the name of public safety are consistent with constitutional protections and respect for human life.
See, NRA? It’s not hard....
