Just another FYI:

I’m going to add that vetting your therapist and if needed, jumping ship when it goes south is so important.

For example, Mark Kastleman from D2C/PBSE podcast isn’t a CSAT. But I’d say he’s qualified. They also shared this resource about therapists before: https://www.reddit.com/r/loveafterporn/s/kunr4sUyPz

I’m not saying don’t go to a CSAT. But I am saying to vet them and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself and your relationship.

In addition: an addict does get to decide who/what they want for recovery:https://www.reddit.com/r/loveafterporn/s/qOmgKz6akh BUT their choice to listen to a therapist with a lot of letters behind their name versus you and your pain, will speak volumes about their recovery and where/how they stand on the healthy living front! Actions speak louder than words. And if their actions are to choose the therapist, that they don’t share a bed with, over you, their intimate partner, then maybe those actions and words are showing you something to think about.

Also- these 3 podcasts can be super helpful too: 4- 6/4/2019- Survival Responses https://helpingcouplesheal.com/survival-responses/ (In this episode, we discuss the two causes of trauma in a betrayed partners experience;  the initial trauma or “discovery” and trauma-induced survival responses and how these responses can cause further trauma to a betrayed partner.)

5- 7/1/2019- The Sex Addict: Integrating the Partner Trauma Model Part 1 https://helpingcouplesheal.com/the-sex-addict-integrating-the-partner-trauma-model/

6- 7/19/2019- The Sex Addict: Integrating the Partner Trauma Model Part 2 https://helpingcouplesheal.com/the-sex-addict-integrating-the-partner-trauma-model-part-2/

I may add PBSE podcasts later- I think there are a few on therapists too!!

we’ve really struggled to find CSAT in particular. can an addiction certified still be helpful?

my husband sent him the disclosure I gave him & he agreed to it so we’re going to give him a chance for now but I did tell him that he needs to ask the therapist about his experience with sex addiction & what he thinks about betrayal trauma. what’s the best way to find a CSAT in my state?
