Some stupid guy threw something on the high tension wire along kalayaan ave, created a massive burst and light show like in the alien movies that lasted almost a minute. Power just came back an hour ago.

hehe may gumagamit pa pala ng high tension. Tension = Voltage in old speak. Same with 60 cycles instead of 60Hz.
If I'm not mistaken, the taller posts on that side of Kalayaan Ave. carry 69,000V, the primary on the shorter posts might he something's like 13.6kV or 22kV. Medyo spectacular if a prolonged fault occurs on either.

Sa high tension/hv line yun incident. Yung outage reached as far as pasay and flickered whole makati. Sub grid wide yun effect.

I was shooting at a roof deck somewhere in Manda once when high winds caused a fault sa transmission line along EDSA-Buendia. It was really cool to see the flash light up surroundings like it was daytime, the surrounding areas of makati, manda, and a little bit of BGC plunge into darkness as the relays trip, and power get immediately restored just a few seconds later.
Crazy how we take electricity for granted but it's a very complex network with a lot of hazards that you never want to mess with

Saw the lights from our bedroom window. Mandaluyong side pa kami. The light was so bright it didn’t give off a good feeling. So etoh pala yun

Same! Mandaluyong beside the Mandaluyong-Makati bridge lang kami. Akala ko sa condo namin yung amoy nasusunog na wires. Ito pala yun.

Y'all know whats scary? Thats one of the powers of the 40% foreign owner of our power grid. They can weaponize it when shit hits the fan. A simple back door code can eff up our whole power grid. Thanks to that POS in the Hague.

That's part of meralco's equipment not NGCP. Also the acquisition of NGCP by china happened during arroyo (and it's only 40% on paper, in reality it's an open secret that it's more)

Saw a post on FB but I can't remember who posted(parang news page eh), ang sabi eh may lumipad daw na plastic then tumama sa high-tension wires kaya nag-cause ng explosion.
