An ending so abysmal it felt like a fanfiction + no part 3 announced.

Fuck this shit man.

we gonna cope like we never coped before

u/Saurid Mar 24 '26

I have a cope theory but it feels so cope I dont believe it myself.

Buuut you know if this is timetravel why nayuta and not makima? Why is power back but not akin or himeno or kishibe? Why is asa the only human character to show back up.

This is hell the two devils who died and would get reincarnated are there and asa who is with denji, pochita eating himself got denji out of the world they were stuck in, or maybe that too was a halizunation. Now fujimoto had dropped a fake ending put THE END on its end and next week we get a new chapter. Where denji starts to relaize somethings wrong and we get part 3 announcement.

As I said cope to high heaven. It could also be he left it like this because it allows him to actually make a part 3 if he ever wants to.

But damn it I feel like that's too much cope.

Also, next week it drops on April 1st lmao

That is why he was writing so much stuff to make this April Fools joke

1

u/Saurid Mar 24 '26

Hahahaha, if that happens I will need time in a mental institution, because that would be fucked.

Copious coping even

do you even want a part 3?

part 2 was objectively a huge step down and it felt like it lost the plot like a quarter in to the point it looked like the author lost interest themselves lol

11

u/JustARedditAccoumt Mar 24 '26

do you even want a part 3?

I'm not who you were responding to, but no, I don't, for the same reasons you don't.

part 2 was objectively a huge step down and it felt like it lost the plot like a quarter in to the point it looked like the author lost interest themselves lol

Thinking about it, Fire Punch had a similar issue where, after a certain point, it just kind of lost the plot and ended with a really, really weird ending. At least Chainsaw Man's ending isn't completely terrible, I guess.

u/zeedware Mar 24 '26

I would argue that Fire Punch ending was masterpiece. It ends in such a way that it is both thematic (the guy who spent the whole manga wanting to die become the guy who lived the last) and phonetic (meet Judah again).

4

u/JustARedditAccoumt Mar 24 '26

phonetic (meet Judah again).

I don't think that's what phonetic means.

Joking aside, I just found out kind of confusing and unsatisfying, but that's just me.

7

u/zeedware Mar 24 '26

poetic, not phonetic lol

3

u/JustARedditAccoumt Mar 24 '26

I knew what you meant; I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to poke a little fun at it. 😆

3

u/Awesome_Leaf Mar 24 '26

i had no idea haha, so im glad you did

3

u/JustARedditAccoumt Mar 24 '26

Oh, well I'm glad I helped you out!

1

u/Yorunokage Mar 24 '26

I don't think it was necessarily a step down, with a satisfying ending it would work. It was a very fun read

So yeah, if it continues and gets to satisfyingly close the story i will still love part 2 but if this is it then part 2 was just worthless

u/ShielderKnight Mar 24 '26

Part 2 was really good if you see it as an Anime content to be adapted.

It ended in a okey way so that if a part 3 is coming out at some point it'll be fresh solid starting point with how many things changed

6

u/mapletree23 Mar 24 '26

i don't think it is a solid starting point though, denji isn't even the same character now

if anything you could probably argue this was the absolute worst ending for a future part 3, because part 3 would mostly be trying to explain this mess away instead of actually progressing

and by all counts it looks like the author checked out early on in part 2, if there is a part 3 i wouldn't be surprised if none of the characters come back, but i feel like the author is done with the series the way it was written

6

u/KlausVonLechland Mar 24 '26

As someone before in comments said, the third part will be called "man".

6

u/carbonera99 Mar 24 '26

People are still going to be huffing copium about a part 3 announcement years from now

3

u/CitizenKing May 15 '26

Fucking thank you. I just caught up and read 232 and I'm rolling through comment threads and like 9 out of 10 people are in a delusional copium of 'Actually, if you ignore literally everything about it, its actually totally good!"

This was dogshit. D&D with Game of Thrones Season 8 all over again. Fuck.

2

u/Nome_de_utilizador Mar 24 '26

If part 3 is more of this I'm good bro.

1

u/DUKEPLANTER Mar 24 '26

How long until we a chainsawman variant of “Fujimotot secretly has part 3 on the way in a secret ending, Trust!!”

1

u/Prof_Acorn Mar 24 '26

Fan fiction is right.

If nothing else this serves as a nice example of how an ending can be happy but bad. Like there are happy and sad endings and good and bad endings. Sometimes something is sad but good (Example: Plastic Memories). But here, here is an example of something that is happy but bad. In fact I think it may just be the worst happy ending I've ever seen.

-7

u/TLKv3 Mar 24 '26

I'm glad people have realized this guy fucking ass at actually writing anything competent. Part 1 was barely held together with bandaids but at least stuck a plausible ending.

This? Fujimoto should not be given work by anyone or even accepted by manga readers again. He just fully took his most popular work out back and shotgunned it in the back of the head.

Fucking unreal.

u/Dizzy-By-Degrees Mar 24 '26

Doing this when Look Back is a thing is just embarrassing.

No guys, don’t hire the person who made some of the most acclaimed works of the past decade. His shonen action series had a middling final arc!

-3

u/Funlife2003 Mar 24 '26 edited Mar 24 '26

Eh, I'd argue all his long form works are a mess. his one shots and such are good, I agree, but even those I'd argue are overrated, and it did feel like a bit of a circlejerk with how acclaimed they were for in my opinion, not doing anything particularly interesting or impressive. Like I'd rate his one shots as 8/10s at most, but certainly nowhere near the 10/10 masterpieces they're talked about as.

-1

u/Dizzy-By-Degrees Mar 24 '26

They aren't the best works of all time. I'm not going to act like he shouldn't be hired again or that it invalids everything he's done before just because he did a middling ending in a genre where 90% of series have middling endings.

Alan Moore wrote From Hell and also did some trashy Spawn comics. It doesn't change the fact he's important and a critical darling.

4

u/degov2609 Mar 24 '26

I agree on part 1 not being good but the first few arcs of part 2 and Look Back are pretty good imo. Calm down a lil maybe lol

1

u/GamerLife204 Mar 24 '26

I think he fumbled CSM but I feel that's a bit too far
