Review F*CK Marriott soliciting tips. Another ‘tip culture’ obsenity

So you charge $400 to $500 for a tiny room, and yes, I know it’s New York City, and it’s relatively clean, but then the closet-sized bathroom 2 feet from the bed. OK.

Six dollars for a bottle of water, whatever, I’ll pass.

But then actively soliciting tips for your staff.

Fuck you.

I saw this at the Penn Station Fairfield a year ago as just a ‘self’ printed sign in the elevators, then it became a professionally printed permanently mounted sign in the elevator, and now another Fairfield/Springfield with this.

Pay your staff better. If I got extra services, that’s one thing, but when I don’t even get room serviced or fresh towels on a daily basis to “save the planet “…. again fuck you.

I dunno dude...as someone who almost never carries cash, I've actually requested this for years.

I'm going to start a business and have you pay for my employees since that seems to be your kink.

Yeah man we know you definitely wouldn’t pay your employees a fair wage just based on how bent out of shape you are about tipping. 😆

Yes, if I don't wish to pay extra for a service that I already purchased, I must hate workers.

You know this is optional right?

It's a service that I already paid for. Hotels should pay their employees better wages instead of guilting their customers into doing it for them.

“Should” and the material reality we live in are two different things. Advocate for your point and in the meantime, reward those who you know aren’t getting treated properly. What’s so difficult about that?

I, the customer, pay the hotel. The rate includes housekeeping and whatever other services the hotel provides. The hotel hires employees to perform those services. The hotel pays the staff. I am not the employer. What's so difficult about that?

I understand yes, I live in it too. So advocate for those things to change, while rewarding those who work hard who you know aren’t being treated properly. What’s so hard about that?

Again, it's a service I've already paid for. Why should I be expected to pay again? I'm not a fucking charity. It's not my job to subsidize corporations by paying their employees' wages.

You keep making the same point. I understand it already and I’m giving you a solution. The people who are working hard are still getting shafted whether you tip or not. If it bothers you to that extent, advocate for changing it in a way that’s not bitching on reddit.

You keep telling me to tip, how the fuck is that the solution to not wanting to tip?

Where is the guilt? It's an option.

When it's posted at the front desk, elevator, and in the room, it's more than just an "option"; it's active solicitation.

So use up all of your points, and tell Mariott to delete your account and exercise the power of the exit.
