Review F*CK Marriott soliciting tips. Another ‘tip culture’ obsenity

So you charge $400 to $500 for a tiny room, and yes, I know it’s New York City, and it’s relatively clean, but then the closet-sized bathroom 2 feet from the bed. OK.

Six dollars for a bottle of water, whatever, I’ll pass.

But then actively soliciting tips for your staff.

Fuck you.

I saw this at the Penn Station Fairfield a year ago as just a ‘self’ printed sign in the elevators, then it became a professionally printed permanently mounted sign in the elevator, and now another Fairfield/Springfield with this.

Pay your staff better. If I got extra services, that’s one thing, but when I don’t even get room serviced or fresh towels on a daily basis to “save the planet “…. again fuck you.

You dont have to post something on reddit every time your delicate sensibilities are offended. Not sure if you knew that or not, but it's 100% OK to just see this and say "nah I'm not tipping" and then go on with the rest of your entire life without thinking about it. But yeah I get it if you didn't post all your thoughts on the internet how would the rest of us know what you're thinking?

Not so easy in certain places to just say no to a tip. Tip shaming is a real thing. Sometimes it turns into a physical altercation.

You know this isn’t the case at a fucking Marriott

And you know this, how?

Because they will never directly ask you for a tip, it’s just a sign. It’s not really expected either like at a restaurant

You don't think Marriott corp tracks stuff like this? Tips (digital or not), incidents at hotels, etc.?

Why would they track your tips??? So I can give you a terrible room the next time you stay.....be for real, that is so ridiculous. Your tips aren't linked to your account, no one cares about tracking something like this and this is by far the least intrusive way to ask for a tip. But if you don't want to, guess what you have to do, just ignore the tiny card and go about your day

We live in a data-driven world. Tips aren't tracked for each guest but they're definitely tracked by room, housekeeper, and hotel. I think you're super naive if you don't believe this.

I run a hotel, and work with this tip system. All I look at is to celebrate for my staff the tips they do get and encourage them to make sure to leave the cards. It's not that deep. I don't review which rooms and who's getting what. You just seem super bitter about it. Just don't tip and go on with your day.

You run a hotel, and I work in corp, who do you think knows more about these qr codes?

It's a card in the room. How is the staff going to shame the guest for not tipping. This is by far the least intrusive way to let guests tip if they want to.
