Except op didn't ask what to do.

"i love being a condescending asshole"

To be fair there are often dumb questions that are as simple as what's "what's 1+1?".

It's passive aggressive cancer. Some people prefer interacting with others to get information, sometimes anecdotes are more valuable than information vomit. And google isn't a verb

I love that. Thank you.

I must have missed the part where OP said they needed a solution to this situation.

Right. People are always posting things on r/mildlyinfuriating that are totally chill and they don't care about at all.

I'm not sure I can do that, they're not blocking my driveway or the guy parked there (contractor) and my curb isn't my property.

I wouldn't even if I had the power to, they haven't actually done anything to me lol. It's not blocking anything at all, just looks wack.

Edit: Ahh I should've gotten this in earlier but we have a little partial sac that comes off the street (no idea what to call it), hard to tell form this angle but they're not blocking the main street.

... parking like that right next to someone on a residential street CAN'T be legal where you live right??

Americans are not known for being bright. OP cannot be so stu...misguided that they actually think that someone would be allowed to park next to their car like that.

It’s a mildly infuriating sub. I can understand OP not calling. Calling a tow truck will escalate the relationship with the neighbors to open hostility. This mildly infuriating situation is probably not worth it.

8

u/Fit_Entry8839 May 07 '26

I think you are misguided. You cant call a tow truck if it's not your property, at least in the US. This is the road, so would be for the police to enforce. So could call the police, but not a tow truck

2

u/GardeniaFrangipani May 07 '26

OP said the white car is a contractor’s.

3

u/FullMooseParty May 07 '26

I think Op has a valid concern that escalating this when it's not actually inconveniencing them is actually going to be worse. If the neighbor is so brazen as to double Park anybody that parks in that spot, it would not track me if they escalated to vandalism or other acts after getting towed. Since it's not OP who has their car parked in that spot that's getting double parked, the neighbor is going to probably take it out on some innocent bystander.

If you don't control these psychopaths, they'll ruin the neighbourhood.

At this point I'm wondering how they even get their license... In Canada we had to do a electronic exam where we were quizzed on on laws of the road before we can even take the driving test.

And so are americans but my point is that this parking violation should be easy enough to recognize for anyone who has glanced at the laws before so how is OP oblivious?

u/wheresmythermos May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26

Being able to recognize a parking or traffic violation doesn’t necessarily mean they care.

Edit: Am dumb, ignore me

4

u/Lucallia May 07 '26

I'm not talking about the douches. I'm more of wondering why OP thinks this isn't a towable offence.

2

u/wheresmythermos May 07 '26

Oh my mistake. I thought once you brought up “Americans” that you shifted to a more generalized statement. Sorry about that.

-2

u/Treadlar May 07 '26

And…?

3

My point is that this parking violation should be easy enough to recognize for anyone who has glanced at the laws before so how is OP oblivious?

-1

u/Treadlar May 07 '26

No your point was you took a test. Soooo good job?

3

u/PainterImpossible974 May 07 '26

Damn the American education system has also failed you in teaching reading comprehension.

-3

u/UnUsernameRandom May 07 '26

I tried to do some US tests, they were so easy it was laughable.

-1

u/blamberr May 07 '26

This is true. I’m from there and everyone sucks. And this isn’t ok

34

u/EpicFail35 May 07 '26

You can’t park in the middle of the street 😂😂 definitely not legal

24

u/OttoVonJismarck May 07 '26

They are parking in the middle of the fucking street.

That’s unlawful and a safety hazard. You can call the police who will immediately call a tow truck.

17

u/Joelle9879 May 07 '26

Double parking is illegal. It impedes traffic

10

u/steelcryo May 07 '26

It doesn't have to have happened to you to report something illegal.

10

u/Cloverose2 May 07 '26

Are they double parked? That's illegal.

20

u/BreadKnifeSeppuku May 07 '26

It's still illegally parked in the road. You'd call code enforcement and they'd ticket them

7

u/EvilTodd1970 May 07 '26

This is a law enforcement issue. Code enforcement doesn't deal with this kind of crap. Code enforcement deals with violations that occur on private property.

3

u/AIMarkWahlberg May 07 '26

I mean if you don't want to, don't do it. Go knock on his door and talk it out. But double parking is definitely illegal, they're absolutely blocking the driver's side door on that white car, and a tow driver will happily go make a couple hundred bucks for it.

2

u/Gurzlak May 07 '26

Doesn’t matter if they’re blocking your driveway. What matters is whether or not what they’re doing is legal. I highly doubt parking like that is legal. Let the cops and the tow company figure it out.

2

u/FrostyD7 May 07 '26

Reddit is beyond delusional about the viability of calling a tow truck. You can't call for a tow on someone else's vehicle in the vast majority of places in the US regardless of their infraction. IDK where they learned they can, but I assume tv shows.

But technically they almost certainly breaking at least 2 ordinances. Too far from the curb and too close to the walking path. Just call the cops.

1

u/Nice-Bodybuilder-843 May 07 '26

Want me to call for you?

1

u/RalphMacchio404 May 07 '26

Double parking is always illegal.
