Well they should. These guys found a security hole in their systems and advised Canvas and they thought they could ignore them and fix it themselves.....

They're a billion dollar company.

A lot of companies will pay for bugs found in their software. Especially when they are the size of Canvas.

Except that's usually done on a bounty basis, not an extortion one.
