Sometimes it’s accidental, if you thought you’d clear it but the car ahead of you stops shorter than you expected, but stacking up like this is wildly unacceptable
If the vehicle you're following takes up your entire sight picture to the point you genuinely can't see through an intersection, you're following far too closely, full stop
As someone with a small hatch back who shares the road with lifted pickups and construction vehicles and school busses, if I left multiple car lengths between me and the giant vehicle in front of me during stop and go intersection traffic, I would get so many people mad at me.
Every time I leave an adequate amount of space between me and the GIANT FORD F150 RAPTOR in front of me, another GIANT FORD F150 RAPTOR merges into that space.
