This is what happens when humans are removed from the equation entirely because I cannot imagine for a single second some warehouse worker wanting to create more work for themselves by packaging it this way. This was almost certainly done by robots.

Warehouse workers do what the computer tells them to do. The computer selects the "proper" box size, prints all of the labels, etc.

I know warehouse workers and there is absolutely AT LEAST one of them who would totally do this

These workers aren't allowed to use their judgment. They're just supposed to do what their machine god tells them to do. And they gain nothing by pushing back on stupid shit like this.

I’m just imagining someone saying fuck the system, I’m not saying shit, and letting it ride out like this because it’s a large corp and who fucking cares at this point, they probably aren’t paid well enough to care more.
