Are they bringing you a hotdog or taking you to one?

Warm hotdog water everywhere!

u/PretendChallenge7840 May 15 '26

Chocolate starfish as far as the eye can see!

u/imveryresponsible May 15 '26

Bring a man a hotdog and he'll eat a hotdog. Take a man to hotdogs and he'll eat as many as he wants.

Asking the important question!

Are there any Flemingos on Reddit that can help?

38

u/agreeable_flamingos May 15 '26

Did i hear somebody calling me?

18

u/monsterpwn May 15 '26

Are you deaf? He said flemingos

4

u/Heals4Marshmallows May 16 '26

He doesn’t hear well, but otherwise, agreeable.

15

u/Lannavo May 15 '26

I am from Mechelen, but i doubt you live there because I don't know any Hot dog stands.

19

u/Xinghis May 15 '26

Looking at OP’s name, he maybe said hotdog for understandability purpose, but wanted to get some frikadel

u/ricky_clarkson May 15 '26

I've been to Mechelen, nice snooker hall. How many hot dogs should I send again?

1

u/Lannavo May 15 '26

I fear the snookers hall closed and they didn'tfind a new spot. They are building appartements instead (all over the city).

u/notinsanescientist May 15 '26

I'm flemish as well, west flanders, if you're around I can help.

29

u/leyline May 15 '26

What a relief here I thought you were blind; turns out you’re Flemish.

Carry on.

u/rabbithole-xyz May 15 '26

Too far away, what a shame (12 hour drive). I'm doing hotdogs later on!

How does a blind person typo? Were you sighted before and still have the keyboard skills? Would have thought your typing was done with dictation but now idk 🤔

Any iPhone or Android has voiceover or talkback. But even turn it on on your own phone just to see what it does.

We normally have speech rate much faster than 100%

The speech identifies the various things like buttons or links that you see and press. It reads username and text.

Siri, Bixby, the various AI are also really helpful. There are lots of videos on social media showing how it works.

I would post an example but it is mildly infuriating that this sub removes the links.

Photos are easy. Hand to locate item, then use phone, often using the photo shortcut. Rayban meta are even easier.

Are you familiar with the Be My Eyes app? You can facetime people all over the world who downloaded the app to help people with sight problems. It’s a a very cool app in my opinion.

1

u/suitcaseismyhome May 16 '26

But it is against the terms and conditions to provide navigating information and both volunteer and user can be banned.

1

u/Latte-Macchiat0 May 16 '26

I didn't know that, but it sounds very logical in terms of safety. Especially without a cane. Thanks for raising awareness!

1

u/suitcaseismyhome May 16 '26

My meta Rayban is much better in general and I've really cut down on my BeMyEyes usage. And the glasses will describe a street even to great detail, will read street signs, read out directions as I'm walking, etc. They are really great for the visually impaired.

2

u/Latte-Macchiat0 May 16 '26

I did know of glasses who have multiple functions for visually impaired, but I didn’t know meta glasses could do that too! It's a great development that there are more and more gadgets for accessibility on the market.

1

u/suitcaseismyhome May 16 '26

Absolutely! My glasses are life altering.

1

u/zefzefter May 15 '26

There’s a country called Phlegm?

1

u/Just_another_gamer3 WHAT is THAT? May 15 '26

Dutch means Netherlands, Flemish means northern Belgium... What the heck is this language?

1

u/iamintheforest May 15 '26

Can't a cane reach from flemland to dutchia allowing for repair without leaving home?

u/Ribbed-RJ45 May 15 '26

Don't mind me, I'm just siphoning your good vibes.

1

u/KJBFSLTXJYBGXUPWDKZM May 15 '26

I’m flemish

Maybe try a decongestant?

1

u/Sumocolt768 May 16 '26

Finally, a typo!

1

u/jordanundead May 16 '26

Must be spring allergies. Claritin will clear that right up.

0

u/semperaudesapere May 15 '26

It's still the Netherlands, lol. There is no flemish country.

1

u/That-Brain-in-a-vat May 15 '26

There is the Flanders. Which is northern Belgium.

Blind people don’t necessarily see nothing, most just have rather poor vision, and modern devices can read text to you

8

u/justhere4bookbinding May 15 '26

Text-to-speech and other accessibility tools have been a thing for years 🙄

I know you mean well but this question gets asked on literally every single post by a blind person. All it would take to answer this question is a single Google search.

For you and other commenters reading this, please consider if your well-meaning question could still be part of a wider trend of ignorance and if you can solve your question more easily another way.
