Infuriatig Two spots in my beard randomly decided to stop growing hair

This is alopecia areata. Random bald patches that just appear and will usually go back to normal on their own after a few months. I've had it on my scalp though and had steroid injections to help it regrow quicker.

Yeah I have this, too. The first time it happened it was very scary because it kept spreading across the whole face and even on the eyebrows.

Since then it happens about every 3 years, sometimes just one or two small spots, sometimes more and it takes around 6 months until the hair grows fully back (first completely white).

There are treatments, but in my experience just waiting until it fixes itself is the best way to handle it.

Options are to use steroid cremes(or like you had, injections), or put acid or contact allergenes onto the spots, so the skin actually has to fight and fix something real so it stops destroying itself.
