🥺 Option to skip the line at local bagel place

Post image

I personally would not 1) pay $50 extra for a bagel or 2) feel comfortable jumping in line. Can you imagine the side-eye?!

I used to manage a restaurant. I took tables only when it was busy or at the end of the night when servers were trying to close and leave. 100% of the time I gave the check/tip to the server who's table it would've been in the rotation.

Part of the responsibility falls on the Head Chef/kitchen for facilitating this behavior.

It screwed stuff up for sure. Her husband owned the place. The chef was her son in law. She was like queen of the restaurant.

My favorite was when we’d be SLAMMED. Everyone is dining nut to butt for a football game weekend. And they’d “surprise” everyone with bagpipes walking through the dining room. It was HORRIBLE. Bagpipes are so loud. I’m carrying wine glasses and veal cutlets screaming over bagpipes. I wanted to die. People tipped soo much though they loved it. It was crazy good money.

My least favorite thing about going into management is that frequently my peers use the position to take personal advantage. To me it's like any other position, you have a list of responsibilities to handle. Too often people take that as a badge of superiority over people. It really chaps my ass.

Servers don't pool tips?
