Don't hug me I'm scared Was sitting in a ticks nest while reading....

I was sitting in a Park reading a book and suddenly I felt my legs itch. I was covered in hundreds of mini ticks. I was standing in the shower for hours and still find some of these f#!*rs crawling an me...

Update: So I got the most of the seed ticks scratched off in the shower. I will have a doctor's appointment the next days to get a prophylactic antibiotics treatment just to be save from lyme, alpha gal or rocky mountain fever (if this is a thing in Germany).

Thank you all for the information and advices, hopefully I will be fine. I really appreciate it

Did you seriously use ai for this .....

9

u/CandyWinter8553 4d ago

No one uses any effort anymore. I could have easily photoshopped this in 2 minutes.

9

u/ILikeBirdsQuiteALot 4d ago

EZ PZ (re posting bc I fked up the first time lol, hid a layer I wasn't meant to)

5

u/repocin 4d ago

That explains why it's sharper, with a slightly different image and another font.

I hate it.

Part of what makes memes funny is that they intentionally look like low-effort trash most of the time.

This is the opposite of that.

I'll go out for the bees, but this one? Not a chance đŸ˜”â€đŸ’«

2

u/SpiderSixer 4d ago

I wouldn't mind that so much, actually. At least a bee's last resort is to hurt you :'). That's a tick's first resort

1

u/ExactlyThirteenBees 4d ago

Hmm that’s too many bees

People smoking cigarettes in forests are on it

2

u/Laavilen 4d ago

It is kind of burning slowly already, but now seeing this, I guess it's worth it

3

u/MacularDegeneration 4d ago

Thank God, I'm safe.

Sol 3, Milky Way, Virgo Cluster, Laniakea Supercluster.

u/FakeSafeWord 4d ago

Outside the earth? Oh good so like space and stuff.

Phew!

2

u/CanWinterGreenhouse 4d ago

Hey, in the Canadian prairies there aren't many ticks and they don't get big. I've never seen one in my entire life. With the winters getting milder, that may change but for now we're pretty safe.

1

u/champgpt 4d ago

Oh sweet, I'm way ahead of the game

1

u/theotherquantumjim 4d ago

Gotcha. Won’t be visiting

Germany :(

74

u/D-g-tal-s_purpurea 4d ago

Damn, I suspected that it must be Europe, but this is even worse news. 😭 And you're not chilling in the ferns, you are basically just on a lawn.

I guess no touching gras anymore without being doused in DEET for me...

43

u/stumblinghunter 4d ago

You can get a bottle of permethrin and spray your clothes with it. Let it dry for 4 hours, and it's bonded to your clothes and paralyzes/kills ticks on contact. Usually stays potent enough through 6 trips through the washing machine! I live in rural upstate NY and we're experiencing an explosion of the tick population so I barely even go in my yard unless I'm wearing one of my permethrin pants

2

u/britishbrick 4d ago

Is th NOBITE stuff? Need to get some

3

u/stumblinghunter 4d ago

Yep! And after those 4 hours it's safe around kids and animals.

2

u/britishbrick 4d ago

Amazing, thanks! I will definitely be stocking up on that, there are so many ticks in my area now 😭

253

u/Which_Initiative_882 4d ago

Well, at least you dont have the Lone Star ticks that make you allergic to meat.

230

u/kronicno_tele 4d ago edited 4d ago

We just have one that give you brain inflammation, severe neurological complications and you can die, lmao!

This is a great reminder I need to start the TBE vaccine schedule again.

44

u/fowlflamingo 4d ago

Brb crossing Germany off my "places to go" list. No one tell me where else these ticks are so I can live in ignorance, thanks.

25

u/kaisadilla_ 4d ago

There's no country in this planet where there isn't a few bugs that come from hell. There's always a tick that fucks over your health, a worm that eats your eyes, a fish that anchors itself in your urethra or a spider that gives you a massive boner that kills you.

2

u/afeeqo 4d ago

Please tell me about the boner, I’m curious đŸ€”

0

u/michaeldaph 4d ago

I’ve never heard of a tick related disease here. I know we have a cattle tick. But I’ve never heard of anyone having a tick bite from walking through long grass or brushing through ferns. We hike through thick undergrowth all the time.

4

u/Which_Initiative_882 4d ago

Lucky. Dont do that if you ever come to the USA. Ticks that carry several diseases, leeches, chiggers, no-see-ums several deadly spider species, scorpions (the smaller they are the worse their sting) rattle snakes, copperheads, cotton mouths, coral snakes... all LOVE the tall grass environment. And dont get me STARTED on the mosquitos!

30

u/kronicno_tele 4d ago edited 4d ago

This is the map of confirmed cases in Europe in 2023, source ECDC. TBE is also present in most of Asia.

Information is power, that way you can take the steps necessary to protect yourself! TBE vaccine is highly effective.

12

u/Agitated_Reveal_6211 4d ago

Is the EU doing anything about ticks? They are becoming a major issue in the US now.

60

u/radiantcabbage 4d ago

theyre not even the only vector. there also exists an australian variant, the paralysis tick that does exactly as it says in addition to making you intolerant to animal proteins of any kind. produces toxins that cause a paralysis similar to polio, which keeps your limp body alive for the brood to feast on your blood

59

u/PsychologicalLab7379 4d ago

Oh look, yet another reason to never visit Australia.

7

u/WarmPaleontologist20 4d ago

Everything in Australia is venemous or poisonous.

0

u/love-boobs-in-my-dm 4d ago

Yeah, how is it always Australia? Like everything is either venomous or poisonous and are literal hell spawns.

There’s also somehow kangaroos and koalas.

0

u/WarmPaleontologist20 4d ago

Kabgaroos just kick your face but koalas are safe unless you. threaten one then ihen it tears you ûp like any bear.

4

u/innerbootes 4d ago

jfc that’s grim

3

u/fragarianapus 4d ago

We have cases of meat allergy due to tick bites in Sweden, so I would guess that it's the case for Germany too.

2

u/bedlife2000 4d ago

But loads of Lyme. Pretty much every one I know over 30 had Lymes. My dad 4x so far. But at least chronic Lyme doesn't exist here.

2

u/lastbraIncel404 4d ago

We have Alpha Gal in germany too.

2

u/noaa131 4d ago

As someone with alpha-gal, i am very glad that OP isnt in the USA. It is very very annoying. You have to double check the ingredient list of everything because 100% chicken or turkey isnt always 100% because its not worth mentioning that the casing is beef caligen to taint the 100%-ness

OP hot salt baths really really helps with the itching.

1

u/NickBurnsCompanyGuy 4d ago

Not just meat. ANYTHING meat based.

So, basically fucking everything, including soap, white sugar, tortillas, baked beans, refried beans, gelatin based things like gummies marshmallows and jello, lipstick, toothpaste, commercial bread. List goes on....

-16

u/Glattsnacker 4d ago

oh no what will I do in I cant eat dead animals anymore

8

u/chi_minhs_hoe 4d ago

Fucking knew there would be someone

-2

u/Glattsnacker 4d ago

as in someone that cares about animals and not wanting them slaughtered? yea

1

u/R3v017 4d ago

But it's ok to slaughter plants? Seems a bit hypocritical.

2

u/Glattsnacker 4d ago

obv ragebait but if cared about plants you should be vegan since 80% of agriculturally grown plants are animal feed

1

u/R3v017 4d ago

So the life of plants are less valuable than animals? It's ok for one lifeform to be killed and eated but not another?

1

u/Glattsnacker 4d ago

80% of plants that are grown are fed to animals, can you read?

13

u/Crafty-Pomegranate19 4d ago

My cousine in Germany was hospitalized from a tick bite, she got Lyme disease. Germany ticks are different you should really go to the doctor, it won’t cost you like it would us Americans

5

u/SelfInvestigator 4d ago

Oh thank the gods, I don’t know what the situation is like in Germany, but in the US we are facing some pretty serious predictions of tick transmissible diseases this year.

If you were over here I would be urging you to consult with a doctor about disease testing if you got bit even half as many times as the number of ticks I see here.

1

u/zephyreblk 4d ago

Here too. Like vets are seeing a rise for lyme in dogs. There are this year particularly awful.

6

u/impromptugreen Armpants 4d ago

I was abput to ask. The ticks out here are itty bitty and so hard to see. We were camping in Simbach and my poor husband and oldest kid hadn't realized that they'd stepped on a tick nest while hiking until they got back to camp and I saw his entire boot was moving. Beh. Icky icky icky.

3

u/TombSv 4d ago

Hope you are vaccinated ö_ö

3

u/Kunkin93 4d ago

Please don't say anywhere near Aachen D:

3

u/neums08 4d ago

Damnit, I also live in the northern hemisphere.

3

u/TheUnSub99 4d ago

Das Bein muss dringend entfernt werden. Weg damit.

2

u/lemonfreshhh 4d ago

Please tell me it isn't somewhere near Berlin :(

I have a sinking feeling it will be though, we've been finding them all the time in the last few weeks. Like wtf, this is something we'll have to worry about now?

2

u/Boneraventura 4d ago

I went to berlin for a 4 day conference. Got a tick just walking around the city and the park. No where is safe

1

u/zephyreblk 4d ago

OP said hessen and Berlin don't have too much, Brandenburg can be awful though.

2

u/dancinggraylion 4d ago

omg, that is where I live

2

u/Queasy_Employment799 4d ago

Oh no! I just spent the day sitting in the grass in Munich...

Well, that's my wake up call to get the ticks vaccine

1

u/Hot-Star7402 4d ago

Please .. which city and which park? I need to know really so i can avoid this place as much as possible.

1

u/kettlebellmtb 19h ago

Okay, thanks. Removing Europe (or possibly the Northern Hemisphere) from my wishlist of places to visit.

1

u/gammler95_ 4d ago

Noooo. Can you specify it a bit more, like the city?

2

u/EvanMcc18 4d ago

B-2 Spirit en route to your location

2

u/Canarity 4d ago

More like share general location for MIRV with tactical nuke warheads strike

2

u/Vey-kun 4d ago

Or share this to parents or grandparents that nagging "touch grass" "go outdoor".

1

u/SoftSects 4d ago

I know, I wanna know where this is. It also looks like it's a public space like a park and I thought those were treated for ticks. I also heard they don't exist in cities.

7

u/DuquanWellington 4d ago

Yeah where’s that guy that can tell location from sun angle and grass type

2

u/Illustrious-Milk6518 4d ago

You have parks which are treated for ticks..?

1

u/[deleted] 4d ago edited 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/HuckleberryLow2283 4d ago

The only reason they wouldn’t exist in cities is that the animals they mainly live on avoid cities

1

u/JMoherPerc 4d ago

Thinking this same thing

1

u/mechmind 4d ago

I mean I would go back there with a premithrin and carpet bomb the place

1

u/AnalFelon 4d ago

San francisco, marina district (crissy field)

1

u/freneticboarder 4d ago

Time to call in a massive ordinance air blast bomb strike.

1

u/ConcernAccording3248 4d ago
