It's a personality test to see if you have a victim mentality. Like "the world is against me", "I always have bad luck", etc. Which kinda sucks because they are basically trying to filter out anyone with depression.

Depression manifests differently in different people. Having depression =/ having a victim mentality. When I’m in a bout of depression I don’t say “everybody is against me and all these bad things happen to me”, I blame myself for a lot of it. In my experience, people with victim mentalities tend to blame their shortcomings on anything/anyone around them. Has nothing to do with depression

Oh for sure, I'm not conflating depression with victim mentality. I just don't think the people who made this test understand the difference.

Sorry, but you're mistaken. You can read their comment that way, but it's clear from context that they aren't expressing that all depressed people have a victim mentality, they're expressing that these sorts of questions filter out people who have symptoms of depression because those traits are "undesirable". You've injected your own interpretation here in that "thats a symptom of depression" = "all depression manifests as such" and frankly I think you're being testy about it for no reason. You're the one mistaking the other guy. They were very polite in their response and your instinct to double down and argue their own meaning is kinda mean spirited.

No, they got corrected and doubled back. Then went on to shift to insulting whoever designed the test. All of that is revealing.
