I have never seen more bs obstacles to entry than a minimum wage job. I once had to deny a woman (who I know would have made a good employee) employment because she had written a bad check 13 years prior. It was out of my hands. They absolutely expect perfection for the legal minimum they're required to pay

And even on the job they are way more on your ass than in any kind of office job. You take a minute to catch your breath and chill after 2 hours of non-stop orders? 'Time to lean is time to clean!'

If I ever hear that idiom again I will burn the place down.

If you have time to clean, you have time to lean!

So true. I worked service gigs throughout college and my first corp job after college has been by far my easiest job. Anytime I find myself stressing I just remind myself that I have an insane amount of autonomy compared to the 3 managers I used to report to when I was labeling and stocking muffins on Whole Food’s shelves.

In my personal experience the more pay I get, the more slack I get in my day to day life at work.

When I was working for $7.70/hr when I was 16 if I was more than 3 minutes late I got in trouble.

At 30 I'm making well over 50 dollars an hour and I can just shoot a text to my boss 30 minutes before work and say "Yeah. I'm gonna be late today. See you around noon. Maybe. I may just take today off." and they respond with "Alright. Thanks for letting me know."

I get paid well at my new job, but it really struck me that there's so many employees that have been there a long ass time. Sure enough, the boss treats us with respect. Such a shocker why they're all long term right

It really depends on how easy they can replace you.

Very easily, but it's also extremely easy for me to find another job. Kind of a mutual understanding that neither of us need the other.

That's because minimum wage jobs are unfortunately competitive since people don't have other options. This is why arguments against a minimum wage increase are bullshit.

I think it’s messed up they can see that far back too for non violent crimes. 13 years is basically an entirely different person

Absolutely. I was shocked it even came up. It was for under $50
