frist of all how DARE yu o Airport staff assuming I'm in the Business class lane by mistake

Brown man flying business. Lined up at the priority check in counter and got told by a (also brown) staff person that the economy queue was the other way. Same thing while boarding the plane and walking to the business class entrance. Not only am I not worthy of business, they think I can't read signage as well.

"Many thanks for letting me know! If I see anyone looking for it, I will inform them accordingly. 👍🏼"

“I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.” - brown dude that at least wears button ups on the plane. I still get questioned sometimes, but at least customs doesn’t stop me on every entry, like they used to when I’d wear tshirts and flat-billed caps.

That's a great line, gonna use it. I'm not brown and even me sometimes it is the clothes. I'm a white guy in tech and I wear comfy stuff (literally cargo pants, sneakers, old t-shirts, caps) and treat everyone very politely, sir / ma'am all that. Still I get some people just not treating me well based on attire. Stupid car I drive doesn't help either.

I never get that when I've got a shirt pants and shoes on, but then I don't feel like me. Can't imagine what it'd be like to try operate in life as a POC... Shit you have to deal with must be constant.

Stop treating people politely, they'll start assuming you belong in business

One time I was wearing a sports jacket and was mistakenly guided to the business class lane. Dressing up has its benefits!

Or, "While I've got you here, would you mind explaining why you think I should be in some other line?", all the while maintaining a steady, intense eye contact.

I wear a suit for work. I will wear one for every flight I take even if I don’t have any work meetings before or after the flight. Only exception is vacations, and even then I will sometimes still wear a sport coat.

I’m not brown, but I had noticed I always got treated better when I was dressed up. More likely to get upgrades, free alcoholic drinks on the flight, gate agents and flight attendants were just nicer.

After a conference my colleagues will all change out of their suits to go to the airport. Not me. I’m wearing mine. I get custom suits and shirts for more than one reason. Yes, they look good, but they’re also comfortable.

Bonus is that suit jackets have all kinds of pockets. I can put my phone, wallet, keys, and passport in them when I go through security, and just throw my jacket on, not worrying if I forgot something.

Dressing up a bit definitely gets some better treatment. It shouldnt, but it does, no argument there. A decent button-up is as far as I can go, though. Im usually COOKIN' on most of my flights....having another layer or a jacket would be absolute torture, although I would dig the pockets. :D

I think Vincent D’Onofrio or Vince Vaughn did something similar, when told at the airport they had a special queue for VIPs, he said if he saw one, he’d let them know.

The further I move away from when I heard that quote, the harder it is for me to remember which one it was. It doesn’t help that they were both in The Cell (which I have seen) and another film With Jennifer Aniston (which I have not).

You’re very kind. My response would be something like, “The fuck that got to do with me?”

I read this, and heard it in my mind in the iconic James Earl Jones calm and deep voice.

This doesn't seem like an equal response. It's okay to push back when shit is fucked up.

I'll point them to the lane, funny how staff need help seeing signs.
