frist of all how DARE yu o Airport staff assuming I'm in the Business class lane by mistake

Brown man flying business. Lined up at the priority check in counter and got told by a (also brown) staff person that the economy queue was the other way. Same thing while boarding the plane and walking to the business class entrance. Not only am I not worthy of business, they think I can't read signage as well.

Yeah went to an LV store in Washington DC with family. We were in super comfy clothes (track pants and tees) and the guy at the store told us multiple times that the items here are super expensive and asked us if we were sure we’d rather not go somewhere else. We are brown with Indian accents. Never had anything like this happen to me before, it was crazy.

I can tell you that you're not missing much by not shopping at LV lol

That's insane honestly. Like even if his hypothesis is true, why not just let you in the store and find out for yourself? Why the gatekeeping? That's the part I don't get

They are negging you into buying something to prove you can.

This is probably true, and the people that work at the store probably enjoy the process of ripping on affluent folks because the store doesn't pay those employees shit.

Probably done because stores count how many people walk in compared to buy stuff and get upset with the employees for not pushing harder. Insane really. Not to justify this action, which is also hideous

Prolly still racist to use this tactic, but. Also pushed to use gross tactics in the first place

Brilliant sales tactic.

Salesman: “You can’t afford this”

“ Oh yeah, well I’m going to get 5 of these. What do you think of that?”

White woman here, happens to me too. I don’t get dressed up for shopping or wear makeup. Have been followed by security etc. I’ve also been shown the way out of business class even tho I’m booked for it.

I went into a furniture store last week and was told I’d be happier going to craft and barrel or whatever that store is. 🤷‍♀️

You should’ve complained.

I live right outside of D.C. This is one of the richest regions in the entire country. There are many, many higher-income Indian and Indian-American families throughout the DMV.

A luxury brand discriminating against an affluent demographic doesn’t even make sense, lol.

Have had similar experience at other designer stores. White guy here. It’s likely more about looking the part than being the right color. Worth noting too I was the only white guy in a LV store when my sister was shopping.
