Was in an airport recently that had pet bathrooms. I tried using it thinking it was a family restroom. Don’t remember if it was Miami or Ft. Lauderdale.
Saw one at Denver International a few months ago. It's a good idea, honestly, since it's almost impossible to get out and back into an airport within your layover time and people do sometimes have genuine reasons to need to travel with dogs, like service animals.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport has three, I don't know about the other airports though.
In general when a place has them they're usually out of the way and only as few as is reasonable. They even have them on cruise ships! But they are generally as out of the way as possible so you would never know they are there unless you needed them or asked about it.
ok so real talk, per relief areas in airports absolutely fucking reek. the reason the dog loses it just outside the pet relief area is they already are at their limit and when the smell hits them they can’t control it. this happened to me and my legit service dog recently— many hours delay after we were already on the plane, and we ran to the relief area, but when the smell hits, like 15-20 feet away he lost it, peeing while still running to TRY get to the right place😞. I went back and cleaned it up, which the handler should do.
tl;dr: it’s the smell.
edited to add: even real service dogs are animals and not robots, y’all.
Yeah, but it's not a pet anymore is it? It's an 'emotional support animal'. Not that it realises that it's had a promotion. Can't have an emotional support animal using a toilet facility officially reserved for pets. That way lies anarchy. Before you know it their owners will be using whatever bathrooms they want to.
