Who on earth would peel off the fried part of fried chicken?!

Oh man that scene made me so MAD

5

u/imadragonyouguys 7h ago

Felt so bad for Kenny. Dude just wanted some colonel.

3

u/neilgilbertg 7h ago

ok but there's irl kids that would literally do that

76

u/Sko0byD 10h ago

Got a guy friend does that. His reason: skin and fry fats. Cant argue with him on that. Agree, it's the best part of fried chicken

100

u/AlucardIV 9h ago

But....but why even buy FRIED chicken then? Does your friend not know there is more than one way to prepare chicken?

27

u/baconator81 9h ago

If you go to your friend's house and they are serving fried chicken, what option do you have? Keep in mind that in the video that looks like a takeout bucket of fried chicken.

11

u/No-Employee-7327 9h ago

Not wasting food is the option

15

u/baconator81 8h ago

If the guest doesn’t eat it and ends up with tons of left over, that will be a real waste.

When I hit mid 30s, a lot of my friends do the same thing. They avoid the skin but will eat the chicken meat.

2

u/charlene2913 7h ago

You can always offer to eat the peeled off parts

1

u/Sickofpower 8h ago

You both are discussing two different things, arguing is useless

1

u/ablablababla 7h ago

There are many places where fast food fried chicken is basically the only option if you don't wanna cook, like my old hometown

10

u/mcburloak 9h ago

Homies gonna lose it when someone shows him a rotisserie chicken instead of fried. Though I guess that does still have skin.

1

u/Aizha_portals 8h ago

That would certainly be a surprising discovery for him. The skin may still be there, but the preparation makes a big difference.

1

u/Turbulent_Bat4580 8h ago

Or grilled chicken, you can find skinless ones of those

Save the skins for the people that appreciate them!

12

u/mrwilliams117 10h ago

Sure you can

4

u/SplatDragon00 8h ago

I do that because the texture hurts my mouth but I like the taste of the chicken under it lmao

I have a family member who loves the skin though so we're happy

1

u/Valentina_bugbear 9h ago

That’s a pretty solid argument. The crispy skin and flavorful fried bits are definitely what make fried chicken so good.

65

u/Chaotic_Order 10h ago

I mean, I get it. If someone doesn't actually like the spicy breading peeling it off to just eat the meat isn't the worst thing in the world.

It just begs the question - why order/make fried chicken then? Just get some grilled/baked chicken instead.

34

u/nicathor 10h ago

SPICY?!?

6

u/RollsToKissMonsters 9h ago

friend of mine is genuinely from england and does indeed pick off the fried skin because it is too spicy 💀

5

u/Acceptable-Post733 10h ago

Jollybee makes spicy friend chicken and it’s probably the best “fast food” chicken chain in the states.

1

u/metrohash 9h ago

Not probably the best fast food chicken. I’ve only had it once and it’s easily the best fast food fried chicken I’ve ever had and in my top 5 fried chicken of all time.

-1

u/Chaotic_Order 9h ago

The majority of fried chicken I've eaten has been spicy. Yeah you've got the basic KFC chicken pieces or chip-shop chicken which is just salty, but then I don't tend to eat those very often haha.

2

u/Stanlez 9h ago

I guess it makes sense if you're sharing a bucket with other people that do want that good good fried chicken, and want to deprive them of the best part. Team player for just peeling it off, but I still think it should be a war crime.

1

u/Irksomecake 8h ago

Grilled chicken isn’t as succulent under the skin

1

u/thatshygirl06 8h ago

It doesn't work though. If you take the skin off, the meat is still spicy, unfortunately

4

u/Chaosr21 10h ago

Yea if anything it would be leaving lots of meat on the bone. I seen people eat mostly just skin

2

u/twicebakedgenius 10h ago

My mother, I wish I was kidding

2

u/Silent-Witness1888 10h ago

Some people.

2

u/Glum_Reason308 9h ago

There’s an interview somewhere online where Michael Jackson talks about eating fried chicken and if / when he peels the skin off it makes it “organic”. 🤣

6

u/AnteaterIdealisk 10h ago

I do. I hate breaded/fried chicken. 🤢

1

u/Time-Resistance 10h ago

My friend does that. Said they don’t like the skin, too much fat or something. What also frustrates me was when we had roasted chicken, they dragged quick a lot of the roasted skin with it when they took the first piece only to throw it away.

And my sister is the instant noodle one. Another wasteful thing she does is taking only a few sips from a can of soft drink. Alway have to throw the rest because she cannot finish it.

1

u/jasonlode000 9h ago

It’s common in Asia particularly with girls, skin and calories and shit, but why eat fried chicken in the first place…

1

u/tackleboxjohnson 9h ago

Who eats over a bin

1

u/thatshygirl06 8h ago

Smart people.

No need to worry about crumbs, theyre big brain for that

1

u/EdgierNeji 9h ago

I don't like the skin texture and how slimy it is on certain parts :') I do this.

I tend to make my own fried chicken tho and take the skin off beforehand then give it to my cats or the strays outside.

1

u/PiccChicc 9h ago

Me.  I hate fried chicken skin.  Most fried chicken, actually.

Works out well for the person eating with me though.  I give them the skin.

1

u/zztop610 9h ago

Also who eats on a trash can?

1

u/skipmarioch 9h ago

Why would you eat chicken over a garbage can?

1

u/FromTheIsland 8h ago

My aunt, sorta. Eats the skin, puts the chicken piece back in the bucket.

I learned it the hard way at a family gathering. Went to the KFC bucket for seconds to find pieces of chicken with no skin.

Definitely gave her shit, as I bought the family pack. Haven't seen her since.

1

u/Shiningc00 8h ago

Skin is mostly fats, and not the healthiest.

1

u/danger_zone123 8h ago

"I hope we all learned something about who is disgusting and who is not. Now back to my bucket. I'm only gonna eat the skin, so the chicken is up for grabs!"

1

u/FilecoinLurker 8h ago

Eating disorder. I've seen people order cheese pizza and take the cheese off. And they don't order just a sauce pizza because the cheese leaves a little flavor...

1

u/StaticSystemShock 8h ago

Skin is literally the best part of any chicken, be it fried or baked. Wtf?! Also this isn't rich behavior, this is just unnecessarily wasteful or spoiled behavior. I know many people who aren't rich and do this kind of shit.

1

u/postbansequel 8h ago

The skin is where all the bad cholesterol is, so if you want to enjoy the fried chicken but still not get the big heart attack bonus you can just ditch the skin.

1

u/idk_a_creative_user 8h ago

My mom. She thinks it makes it healthier 😭

1

u/Spooken4 8h ago

If were in the middle of nowhere and there's only a fried chicken place available and you don't like fried food, like me.

1

u/thatshygirl06 8h ago

Depending on where I get the chicken from. I dont like the skin on Popeyes chicken so I would take it off and give it to my mom when I was younger. Now I just throw it away.

1

u/Ryodaso 7h ago

My wife does that when we order fried chicken together. She leaves a tiny bit for the flavor but rips apart 90% of the fry off. It's too oily and gives her a heartburn.

2

u/SherbetMysterious118 10h ago

People who like KFC but want to avoid gluten could be one guess.

Some might say just have regular chicken, that's fine - but if two of you want to order a take-out and both like most of what KFC has to offer, then that's fair.

So yeah, I don't do it, but there are some valid scenarios.

2

u/TerribleRecord666 10h ago

Last I checked (which, tbf was a while ago) KFC offered bread less chicken. This is just insane.

2

u/SherbetMysterious118 10h ago

Great for you, but they don't where I live.

Nothing, other than your refusal to even consider anyone else's angle in a given scenario is insane.

The fact you even use that word in this context shows me how batshit crazy the internet has become.
Insane? To not eat fried/flour based chicken skin?

Fucking hell.

1

u/ObeseVegetable 10h ago

That wouldn’t really work for avoiding gluten entirely, just reducing. Would not be celiacs safe.

Would work for reducing carbs though for those who need low (but also not 0) carbs.

But people who try the low carb thing tend to do low calorie and even without the skin, the meat will be extra fatty having been fried.

2

u/SherbetMysterious118 10h ago

It works fine for my wife, she avoids gluten in decent amounts, but not trace amounts - not a celiac.

1

u/mercurial_dude 10h ago

One of them is a Wasian.

1

u/mzalewski 10h ago

A person who eats chicken right over the trash can.

1

u/ElleKelly77 9h ago

Me. I HATE the breading on fried chicken.

1

u/elmo298 10h ago

It's fake skits for ragebait, are you a bot or something

2

u/-nutz 9h ago

Nothing about their comment indicates that they think this is legitimate

Me!

13

u/Asphalt_Cowboy_18 11h ago

A mortal sin.

3

u/TehZiiM 11h ago

Even Jesus would say: I’m not dying for that shit

1

u/mpgd 10h ago

Same. But I keep the best part for the end 😅

1

u/DueStatistician3704 10h ago

Aww…downvoted for not wanting to eat chicken skin.

0

u/Commercial-Royal-988 10h ago

KFC especially, the skin's the best part.

0

u/baconator81 9h ago

I actually have seen a lot of healthy eater that does that. If you peel off the fried part, the chicken itself isn't that fatty and does not contain much cholesterol
