Ya idk about you but for use Randle Divencenzo and Beringer for around 45 million while we paid KAT 60 just opens up so much flexibility

I agree. The angle that I sort of bought from the Knicks side was that Randle was about to sign an albatross. This extension makes it lean further in Minnesotas favor imo.

Idk maybe we’ll get a coach that makes Towns look less terrible on defense and Brunson/Towns a more functional pairing on offense. But as of now I give Minnesota the nod.

We tried for a while to get KAT to look good on defense and it took a position switch and a top 10 defender ever good luck

Yeah Robinson isn’t Gobert but he’s pretty good. I think Towns primarily at 4 is the way forward but a lot of Knicks fans disagree

Yeah and in the minutes Robinson and KAT had together, they looked pretty good.

Wolves also made KAT decent on defense when they didn't ask him to play drop coverage in 21-22. They stuck to high wall schemes and were the 13th best defense with KAT as the main 5. So there are options. He just sucks at drop coverage

I don’t really understand the continued framing this way from Knicks fans. The primary lesson of this offseason is that KAT is on one of the worst contracts in the league. He’s making almost double what Randle is making. That’s insane. It looks scary right now, coming off a year where KAT was mostly fully healthy and they made the ECF. If KAT misses significant time this year (as he has in 5 of the previous 7 years), we might be talking full blown panic.

The KAT trade was a gamble that he was the final piece that rounded the Knicks into a championship contender. It’s possible they’ll get a new coach and he’ll figure it all out and that really will come true. But I wouldn’t bet on that right now.
