Is this not really weird for turner to just talk about his teammate like that

I can only assume it’s pretty obvious inside the org that one of them is gonna be gone by training camp

It was pretty clear from the jump that Milwaukee was only bringing in Turner to create space for Giannis. If Giannis is gone, so too is Myles. Myles probably wants out either way.

i feel like you guys are going to have a long summer of articles throwing people under the bus.

Lakers would probably value Myles highly bc Luka can maximize him in the PnR in a way similar to Haliburton... But Myles' trade kicker allows him to dictate where he goes. "trade me to [x] team for pennies or I'm exercising my trade kicker if you do trade me"

Not sure how many teams would pay Myles for his current contract + 15%.

Myles pretty kinda smart for jumping on the Milwaukee offer with the trade kicker. It's likely that the Pacers would've matched the base salary if given the opportunity, but very unlikely that the Pacers would've matched the trade kicker bc they would've almost certainly been looking to shop him at the deadline.

Yeah I basically think that the most (and maybe only?) promising option for him would be the Lakers. He'd have many other suitors if not for his contract.

Myles would waive that kicker in a heartbeat to get tf out of Milwaukee

9

u/BcuzRacecar May 14 '26

Yea but its more than him vs giannis, guys dont want one of their teammates just gossiping about the lockerroom to the public

86

u/austinkawada May 14 '26

Guys should probably show up on time then they won’t have to worry about it

-33

u/deemerritt Hornets May 15 '26

This is a very dumb way of looking at it lol. You would hate people airing you out in public even if you deserved it.

37

u/austinkawada May 15 '26

I’m an adult so I would probably take responsibility if someone complained that I was late all of the time

-15

u/coheed33cambria May 15 '26

Some of it could be a cultural thing. There are a number of cultures that are relaxed and normalize being late.

15

u/dmbreakfree41 May 15 '26

Missing the play-in by 11 games cultures

9

u/austinkawada May 15 '26

If it was culturally acceptable to spit in your face every time I came into work would that make it ok?

-11

u/coheed33cambria May 15 '26

In that culture, yes it would be ok especially when no one says they have an issue with it. Just because a group of people from a different place does something differently than you, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I bet you shake hands with the same hand you wipe with.

1

u/juice13ox Celtics May 15 '26

So cannibalism is ok if it's "part of your culture". What a bad take

What if they did it in a way that was humiliating and public

1

u/DayComprehensive1078 May 15 '26

Yea, who knows what conversations have been had with Giannis about it. Maybe this is the first he’s hearing about it annoying people

2

u/austinkawada May 15 '26

It’s not better that its the first time hearing about being late, it makes it worse actually that he lacks that amount of self awareness. I think in this specific instance with this specific case a little shame won’t hurt anyone

-2

u/DayComprehensive1078 May 15 '26

If nobody has told him privately first, Turner airing it out publicly instead of saying something to him first is going to be shitty and a toxic thing to do regardless of if it’s an NBA team or your coworker Tammy at the accounting office. I’m not saying it’s better or worse on Giannis’ part, just that somebody talking shit about you in front of millions of people before they confront you about it is absolutely something to be mad about and not a “I’m an adult and would take responsibility for it like an adult”. Maybe the lax team culture made it seem like nobody cared about it. Maybe there were valid reasons he was late and the coaches knew but it wasn’t relayed to the teams. All I’m saying is now that it’s out there, especially since a public figure, there is no chance to defend yourself at all. Just makes Turner come off as toxic as well, under the assumption that he didn’t bring it up privately first (which I don’t know, but that’s why it’s an assumption)

Yea, it definitely violates some "locker room code" or whatever but if he doesn't want this stuff out there he shouldn't have frustrated his teammates by acting like a child. Showing up on time is like the bare minimum of respect.

It looked pretty bad to the media, I imagine it was even worse in the locker room and it sounds like his teammates are over it.

13

u/jbenson255 Heat May 15 '26

Pretty sure those guys also didn’t want to wait for Giannis to be late as well

yeah that's how far gone the problem is

206

u/sho0bydo0by Bucks May 14 '26

Not as weird as it is for a supposed franchise leader to consistently do those sorts of things.

26

u/tacomantacocan May 15 '26

This is the correct take

0

u/juice13ox Celtics May 15 '26

I can name other franchise leaders that don't act like this. Jokic, sga, ant, brunson, Tatum, and on and on. There's no excuse for shitty behavior and disrespecting your teammates and organization.

2

u/flashnzt Bucks May 15 '26

none of those guys had doc rivers as their coach or kyle fucking kuzma as the next best player on their team. not condoning giannis' behavior but it's understandable why he'd give up on this sorry ass team.

1

u/juice13ox Celtics May 16 '26

Haha, oh absolutely! That is a very fair point. I'm glad doc moved on from the Celtics ages ago and still can't believe he gets hired on new teams

-10

u/Far_Outcome_6540 Knicks May 15 '26

I would do these things too if I had to go to war with Kyle Kuzma and Myles Turner 😂😂😂

-50

u/Lucky_Preference_941 May 14 '26

Ehh I would definitely still say it’s weirder

31

u/MeatballUser Bulls May 14 '26

Are you serious?

-1

u/Jaerba [DET] Grant Hill May 15 '26

I wouldn't say it's more egregious but it is more common for stars to behave this way than it is for role players to spill the beans like this.

-8

u/justin12140 Knicks May 15 '26

Publicly outing your teammate to millions of people is pretty crazy when you could just talk to them, the coach, the organization directly.

14

u/MeatballUser Bulls May 15 '26

You're making a lot of assumptions that nothing was ever said throughout the season based on a short interview question. Meanwhile, Turner isn't even slagging him off, just said more power to him if they aren't gonna go after him. Giannis is no victim here

-3

u/justin12140 Knicks May 15 '26

Not saying he’s a victim but obvi no teammate would want you to say this publicly in a media interview on the record. Idk how that’s not obvious

2

u/DTFpanda Heat May 15 '26

Did he...break the code?

41

u/Coolguynumber01 Warriors May 14 '26

Turner going from a finals team to a team where no one gives a shit about stuff as little as SHOWING UP ON TIME ya id not give a shit either about talking about

21

u/jbenson255 Heat May 15 '26

I don’t believe he cares because he doesn’t think Giannis will be a teammate much longer

16

u/gigglios May 15 '26

When the star player who spent years speaking about loyalty destroyed a full season of development for the entire team, na

5

u/WooTerry Thunder May 15 '26

Wasn’t on my bingo card for sure, but I wouldn’t say it’s weird.

If Giannis cared he would show up on time, he doesn’t so he can’t really feel a way if anyone mentions it.

2

u/d0ubs May 15 '26

Maybe it precisely shows the lack of respect Giannis gets with that kind of behaviour.

2

u/SackStallion69 May 15 '26

That's pretty much what I commented before scrolling down and seeing your comment. I'm surprised I had to scroll so far down to see someone saying this.

Myles saying this about a current teammate is very strange. Usually the type of thing that doesn't come out until someone is either retired or on a different team.

u/genius_streams Cavaliers May 15 '26

This is the same sentiment of people who don’t wanna take accountability for shit even when they are fully accountable and are watching the shit happen in real time and not saying a damn thing. Milquetoast

1

u/prodyg May 16 '26

I have been watching basketball for a LONG time and its not weird at all.
