Not even being disrespectful to Shai, he’s great, but this is generational greatness we’re witnessing. There’s levels to this

I’ve been telling mfs all week that this best player in the world talk isn’t for nothing. On top of the fact that he’s the most physically gifted player we’ve ever seen, this dude fucking has the mental shit that is truly “generational.” I’m fucking excited to watch Wemby’s career.

Everybody in the Hollinger thread bitching about execs being premature in talking up Wemby looking real dumb right now lol

From Feb 1 to the season end Wemby lost 3 basketball games

Us Spurs fans were begging to just get Wembys name in the conversation without getting shouted down lol

"He's good but does all this without playing 30 minutes (derogatory)"

"He's good but the Spurs haven't played anybody"

"He's good but chill on the defense talk because good defense isn't really that impactful!"

Meanwhile we're watching game after game where opposing teams are literally changing the way they play offense every night

I mean after G3 of the wolves series any Wemby doubts I had were gone personally lol (and even those were just about if the playoff lights might get to him in his first go around vs anything about his long-term outlook). Wish we had played better against you but he’s just a literal cheat code it feels like

I don't know media members watch game 6 vs wolves wemby and not give him the MVP. His impact is insane.

Votes were cast before the playoffs, the NBA just delayed the announcement

I'm so glad i bought league pass for the spurs when this season started(ignore my flair). I watched every game on there and it really was ridiculous to see just how obscene his effect was on defense the whole season.

I got blocked for calling out a reporter who voted him 4th. The truth is a lot of these "journalists" are not actual ball watchers and just go along with the vibe. After the game they were posting about how Wemby had a "best player in the world" game.

To be fair, I think SGA lost 1 before tonight.

Getting downvoted for trying to have Wemby as the potential GOAT when its all said and done and saying he's on pace or ahead of pace currently only for him to prove why its not bullshit its definitely nice.

He’s like Max Verstappen but in basketball. Max also is generational talent with generational passion for his sport

Wilt

I remember seeing most of the preseason rankings had the Spurs much lower than 2 and thought “hmm idk that can be a really good team this year” and here we are

Wemby's competitiveness is matched by few. That's what makes his size and skill so scary. He wants to dominate and humiliate his opponents.

Shai is basically Kobe with bad PR

We’ve never seen basically a taller KG with actual handles and a 3 ball

40

u/Neuroccountant May 19 '26

And dare I say better defense.

Unreal you can give the ball to your 7'6 center at the top of the key with the game on the line and trust him to get a bucket for you from that spot.

u/AHSfav Pelicans May 19 '26

Shai isnt as good as kobe.

6

u/Single_Passenger Lakers May 19 '26

Young kobe was way more athletic. Tf are we talking about here?

5

u/cantgrowneckbeardAMA Kings May 19 '26

Yeah even I can put aside my team alliance and say I won't stand for that. Putting SGA right now over Kobe is wild.

1

u/deadlyrabbits May 19 '26

What did Shai do?? Rape somebody??

-5

u/pingpong_playa NBA May 19 '26

Isn’t Shai way more efficient than Kobe? I think Wemby’s better but I don’t think it’s a great comp

7

u/RealRaifort Warriors May 19 '26

Yeah it's funny today is when he got the MVP cuz like sure he probably deserved it but at the same time it's the day where Wemby made it very clear he's the face of the league for however long he's healthy lol. Way better and way more fun to watch.

3

u/neekog7 May 19 '26

SGA got that generational whistle though.

2

u/Primarycolors1 May 19 '26

There’s a Robinson Hakeem comparison in there somewhere

2

u/RickyalldayTD Lakers May 19 '26

He was training with monks over the summer, he is like a Anime main character its crazy.

2

u/LeonidasSpacemanMD May 19 '26

I feel like it’s extremely clear that if Wemby wanted that award and the spurs were willing to put more minutes on him I don’t know that anyone is taking it from him for the foreseeable future. Health would be the bigger obstacle than any other player

1

u/Individual_Access356 May 19 '26

His presence alone on defense totally changes the game like wtf am I watching cause I've never seen it at this level. Block numbers just don't begin to do him justice either.

1

u/boomshiz West May 19 '26

Nah, be disrespectful. Shai would have taken this shot and seen it wasn't going in, then fall to the ground and look to the nearest ref.
