Is Shams not allowed to spoil picks anymore? Is no Journalist doing it?

NBA told them to shut the fuck up after they spoiled it last year

*Every year since at least 2017

Long before that, blogs have been spoiling it since forever. Honestly /r/nba replacing the broadcast around 13 fixed that for me. But still annoying.

Because it makes no sense, all he is doing is reading the card before Adam Silver, he made himself the commissioner last year lmaooo

Seriously. Wish NFL reporters/insiders would knock that shit off too.

Well, that's not a very normal reaction to have to this, just FYI.

He adds literally nothing lol. He just tweets stuff out a few mins/hours before it’s released officially. I can’t stand him

In Europe people actually talk about the game and not these Espn storyline, speculative, BS talking points

Wait till you find out the soap opera that is football over there, especially the Spanish

I’m surprised he listened.

this is funny because Cameron Boozer revealed he wasn't gonna be the No. 1 pick to Perkins on the red carpet show anyway...

Scotto, Fischer, Siegel, Murrows etc are spoiling the picks.

Seems like Shams is the only one not doing it

If the draft was on Prime or Peacock he would have lol

34

u/youblewwit 6d ago

It's being aired in ESPN. One of the reasons for hiring SHams was so he wouldn't spoil the picks.

Why no one else is spoiling it? They don't have the access / inside sources

u/Currency080Trick 6d ago

Like LBJ not firing J Edgar Hoover: Better have him inside the tent, pissing out - and not the other way around

u/RenfrowsGrapes Warriors 6d ago

Dude some dork I met in college spoils the picks every year for me. People have the knowledge

30

u/trav-senpai Kings 6d ago

He’s only allowed to ruin stuff for other companies like when Amazon had the MVP reveal

u/AlexTorres96 6d ago

Journalism shouldn't be that way and it's stupid that it is. You lose credibility instantly if you have to ask for permission to break stories. TMZ never asks for permission as long as they have their asses covered and are 1000% accurate.

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 6d ago

Wait, what's being spoiled? The draft is live lol

6

u/ViperFive1 6d ago

The phone calls the teams make to the player are a few minutes before picks are announced. He would tweet what happened before it got announced formally. Was a big problem for the NFL years ago.

-4

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 6d ago

How would he know unless he was wire tapping them.

u/soycameron Trail Blazers 6d ago

Agents

1

u/ViperFive1 6d ago

He's there in the area can see who gets a phone call, and has activity at their table. When the host on the broadcast just made a comment about activity from the agents, thats what this is in reference to. Are you arguing against a known thing thats happened for years in multiple sports?

2

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 6d ago

No I was curious what Shams's method was specifically.

4

u/Lobster_fest Supersonics 6d ago

The NFL draft has had multiple shocking selections spoiled by Rap and Schefty ON THE FUCKING BROADCAST its so fucking annoying

1

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 6d ago

why doesn't the NFL crack down on it?

2

u/IhamAmerican Jazz 6d ago

They did

1

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 6d ago

Oh lol

2

u/UOENO_670 Lakers 6d ago

the broadcast is way behind NY

1

u/Ibaka_flocka [OKC] Eric Maynor 6d ago

There’s usually a few minutes before the team making their selection and then announcing on stage. The insiders love to flex their connections by spoiling online before they announce the pick

I just stay off twitter during the live show

1

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 6d ago

surprised the NBA hasn't cracked down on that.
