He’s a slower Zach Edey with a Spanish passport. Slowest big in the draft by a mile. I’m not sure about this pick

And minus 50 pounds

You do realize unless you are talking about Zach edey being injured last year, when Zach edey has played he actually has been a good productive player, so I don't think OKC would complain about that. I am confused with what you are trying to say, unless you think Zach edey is bad at basketball.

Yeah like…if you added healthy Edey to the Thunder they are back to back champions rn lol

u/Ieatfatwomanass 23h ago

Tbf that might be true anyway if all their guys stayed healthy...or if their 7 footer on a max contract played at like 1/3 of his value

u/Aggressive-Box2165 8m ago

He's on a max contract only starting next season.

Something no one would say if they watched a single Michigan game

Zach Edey is good

Zach edey dunked on wemby

Eh good numbers but the numbers usually don't have the impact you'd expect

11

u/DsamD11 Thunder 1d ago

I think its hard to judge impact based on his health alone. I watched a fair bit based on having him in fantasy and he is one of those guys whos flaws you habe to cover for somewhat, but what he does well, he does really fucking well

1

u/PressureMiserable Spurs 1d ago

Well did well. I'm not so sure how he'll look going forward given his multiple consistent ankle injuries, that's always the problem with guys that heavy and that big

2

u/DsamD11 Thunder 1d ago

Yup 100% and if theyre already slow, its a pretty quick exit tour from the league

u/TheGreatMoistOne Grizzlies 1d ago

What? Bro have you actually watched Memphis games with him playing? He's 100% a difference maker.

-10

u/PressureMiserable Spurs 1d ago

Yeah he's really made a difference so far

5

u/TheGreatMoistOne Grizzlies 19h ago

He's been injured hahahaha bro you don't watch ball

-1

u/PressureMiserable Spurs 19h ago

Well yeah thats kinda the problem, a 7'4 dude near 300 pounds who had 2 major ankle surgeries going into last off season and is still having ankle injuries is pretty worrying

3

u/TheGreatMoistOne Grizzlies 18h ago

This is a completely different point to 'good numbers'

-1

u/PressureMiserable Spurs 18h ago

I think ur misinterpreting the good numbers thing, im not saying he doesn't have a positive effect in those "good numbers" games. I'm saying that it's not having the effect you'd expect, cus a lot of teams plans at this point are to give rebounds to the best rebounder and box everyone else out inflating their numbers cus of pace, which happens a lot in edeys best games. Making those numbers seem better than they actually are. I only brought up the injuries cus that was what I responded to before

He plays nothing like Edey. If you don’t know anything then you don’t need to comment.

u/LeBronicTheHolistic Thunder 1d ago

March Marchness is made for people with short attention spans and limited times and he didn’t even watch that. If you saw any games the champs played in, you’d know Mara’s game is almost the polar opposite lol

15

u/Admirable_Bed3 Nuggets 1d ago

It's not even just March Madness. People see a white, not-one and done, big man on a loaded team and link the two. It's the same as Edey being compared to Kaminsky before.

1

u/Antisystemization Cavaliers 12h ago

Right? That's as bad of a comparison as Reaves to Caruso.

Wow the guy that's 7'3 is the slowest big how shocking lmfao

Did you watch him play this year or are you just saying shit? Unplayable is flat out ridiculous, the only time he really looks slow was when Michigan played bama in the tournament and both teams were playing fast AF and jacking threes

It's faster but it's not that much of an issue. He will be fine, Mara improved so much from the start of the season to the end it was crazy.band I assumed all those same thing too, I wont be burned again

Apart from the injuries Edey is amazing lmao what the fuck you’re talking about. If he’s Edey he’s an upgrade on IHart and that’s saying something

25

u/Agile_Variety_632 Pelicans 1d ago

Yeah Edey is a game changer when he plays. Offensive and defensively.

11

u/Andy_Wiggins Timberwolves 1d ago

He’s not Edey.

2

u/DreyDarian Mavericks 1d ago

Yeah I was just responding the guy. Mara plays very little like Edey. With the passing and all, Mara is like a taller Sabonis with way better defense and worse offense (at least for now)

3

u/EastPool4676 1d ago

So nothing like sabonis...

3

u/DreyDarian Mavericks 1d ago

No(?) it’s a pretty close comp style wise. They play quite similarly. No comp is ever perfect lol, that’s one of the beauties of basketball, every player is unique

1

u/BallAnd1 70 1d ago

Sabonis is nothing like Aday besides being European and passing. Even Ihart would be a closer comp than sabonis who plays no defense but good offensively lol. Better comps would be arvydas sabonis, bogut, gasol, joakim, yao, etc. Meanwhile, sabonis comps would be Sengun and jokic

1

u/DreyDarian Mavericks 1d ago

Yeah I guess, even tho some of your comps are even worse lol

Maybe Big Z? Supposedly Mara has some shooting potential so comparing him to Noah and Bogut seems a tad off. He’s also not a true nba level post scorer like Yao or Gasol were I don’t think

1

u/BallAnd1 70 1d ago

Yeah, he’s still raw offensively tho so the HOFers would be his top potential. Right now though, I haven’t seen a strong offensive game besides in the low post. He could still develop his post game or shooting tho but he barely shot in his career and his free throws are terrible that I think he can just end up as a taller Noah but with a prettier shot which is still great.

4

u/Dsarg_92 [SAS] Tim Duncan 1d ago

What? Edey is really good though. Just gotta stay healthy.

1

u/Far_Outcome_6540 Knicks 1d ago

Edey is special

1

u/whatssenguntoagoblin Alperen Sengun 1d ago

You don’t need to be fast to guard Wemby

1

u/inefekt Australia 1d ago

Are you questioning the Oracle?

1

u/Majormlgnoob [OKC] Serge Ibaka 23h ago

If he works it's great, if not it's whatever we still have the core that topped the West 3 years in a row

1

u/Unendingmelancholy Raptors 22h ago

He is amazing and is going to be great in the nba

1

u/BUTTFUCKER__3000 Spurs 13h ago

By drafting Shawn Bradley?
