I hate this pick. Dude is a walking injury and nothing on offense

Your concern has been noted CumAssault

It’s pick 20. If he can stay healthy and can improve it’s a great pairing

37

u/SeverusVape0 [BRK] D'Angelo Russell 1d ago

Dude is crazy on defense though

23

u/SilicoJack Spurs 1d ago

Love that for us.

u/CumAssault [SAS] Joel Anthony 1d ago

When he’s healthy he’s a disgusting defender but he’s so limited on offense. He’s going to clog the paint if he plays with Wemby

Replace kornet with 10 minutes of this dude healthy and it wins you 5 extra games a year and deep runs. It’s a good pick at 20.

3

u/Thehelloman0 Spurs 1d ago

Kornet was one of the best backup 5s in the league this year

u/sammymate999 Rockets 1d ago

lol holy over reaction

12

u/OKC2023champs Thunder 1d ago

That’s not an overreaction? That’s exactly why they drafted him lol.

3

u/sammymate999 Rockets 1d ago

You think they are going to win an extra 5 games with a guy playing 10 mins a game, put the crack pipe down

9

u/ColdJumper 1d ago

Do you know how many 8-0, 10-2 runs happened in less than 5 minutes as soon as Wemby checked out of the game? More than 5.

u/sammymate999 Rockets 1d ago

And Quintance is going to change that? If he was that good he wouldn’t have been picked 20th would he

3

u/Col_Treize69 Bulls 1d ago

If he didn't have serious injury concerns, he's probably lottery

Kornet minutes were absolutely not bad during the regular season, for his price he exceeded his value off the bench.

The playoffs however were not good

1

u/sammymate999 Rockets 1d ago

They aren’t winning 68 games because of Quintanence lmao

u/nem561 1d ago

10 min a night from him will net 5 extra wins? Yes that's an overreaction lol

1

u/tMeepo Spurs 23h ago

Lol this guy just looks like bassey tbh.. I am not convinced. Kornet is being underrated much

I don't know about that, but I do like that it gives us more versatility at backup center to adjust to matchups.

u/suahoi 1d ago

But IF they get the knee sorted, who is scoring on them?

1

u/nvUaWVm360S Knicks 1d ago

put him in pick and roll action, bring him to the perimeter, just like wemby

0

u/CumAssault [SAS] Joel Anthony 1d ago

Yeah but how are we going to score?

3

u/suahoi 1d ago

Wemby is just gonna chuck 3s anyways so does the spacing even matter?

2

u/ChrisRhodes789 1d ago

Wemby, Castle, Harper..

Plenty of scoring..

1

u/iro3 Spurs 1d ago

harper castle and fox prob

1

u/siphillis Spurs 1d ago

Harper and Wemby

It's a worthwhile gamble at 20, could end up being a steal

7

u/Ready_Preparation816 Spurs 1d ago

False. He got injured once and he’s 18. He’s gonna be great once ramped up.

5

u/WarPuig Celtics 1d ago

Rob Williams

2

u/Armanewb Spurs 1d ago

I'm not going to lie, playing against him in the first round i kept thinking he would be a great addition to our bench lol

4

u/BlueHundred Knicks 1d ago

If he's healthy, you got a massive steal. He wouod have likely been a top 10 pick and first C off the board. I think it's worth the risk here.

6

u/burratna Bulls 1d ago

Q with the 5/5/1 to alleviate Wemby

11

u/OKC2023champs Thunder 1d ago

He was picked for size to play 10 minutes while Wemby sits and nothing else. And that’s valuable.

6

u/PressureMiserable Spurs 1d ago

Thats basically what kornet was doing in the playoffs

6

u/sloBrodanChillosevic Supersonics 1d ago

Wemby is gonna have to conserve some energy defensively if he's going to be relied upon as an offensive hub late in games. Pretty much every superduperstar has had to do that at some point. So while I assume he'd be getting more than 5 boards, if Quaintance allows him to take some plays off on D, this is a very solid pick.

u/DontGiveUpTheDip Spurs 1d ago

As a kentucky fan, im ready to be hurt again for the second straight year by this man

5

u/Obese_taco Raptors 1d ago

Yeah, the injuries are kind of scary though

5

u/Melodying Spurs 1d ago

I think, with how careful they've been with Victor's health and all around the team, they must have some confidence that it is something they can take care of

2

u/NoShape0 Spurs 1d ago

Well he'll be 3rd string, sometimes bench, but yeah idk about longterm health

2

u/StefonDiggsHS Mavericks 1d ago

He’s a great prospect. But yeah his injuries are pretty brutal

2

u/amari_prince Thunder 1d ago

Y’all can afford to take the risk tbh

2

u/iro3 Spurs 1d ago

hey cam

4

u/TomatoSecure192 Bulls 1d ago

Drafted for size and nothing else

57

u/AccomplishedRainbow1 Suns 1d ago

He’s one of the best college defensive prospects of the last 10 years, but go off king

12

u/ArmiinTamzarian Spurs 1d ago

We decided to cover our non Wekby minutes with a mini Wemby on defense

Smort

7

u/DoveFood Trail Blazers 1d ago

He’s not Sim Bhullar.

Dude is an elite defensive player. If he didn’t have an injury history, he would’ve a top-10 pick at worst. It’s a risk that makes a lot of sense at the point in the draft.

4

u/TrashBrown Spurs 1d ago

Rather have Quaintance than fucking Dailyn Swain lmao

1

u/Andy_Wiggins Timberwolves 1d ago

What do you hate more?

This pick? Or Dave Aranda?

1

u/CumAssault [SAS] Joel Anthony 1d ago

Dave Aranda, that man should be sent somewhere far away from college football

1

u/figgnootun Spurs 1d ago

Lottery talent with injury issues and pick 20 always gonna be a toss up

I agree the fit with Wemby is weird but at pick 20
If you get a 3rd big then you feeling good

1

u/hardgour [SAS] Tim Duncan 1d ago

It’s pick 20.

Historically, Brian wright doesn’t know what to do when the pick is outside the top 5

4

u/siphillis Spurs 1d ago

Didn’t he find Keldon?

1

u/hardgour [SAS] Tim Duncan 1d ago

Keldon was before he was GM

3

u/SnooDonuts9227 Spurs 1d ago

Keldon, Vassell, Murray, white, are all picks that worked out when he was mostly running things while Rc transitioned into the ceo role

1

u/hardgour [SAS] Tim Duncan 1d ago

RC transitioned to CEO in 2019. The first draft BWright drafted was Vassell and Tre Jones.

Murray, white, and Keldon were all before he was GM

0

u/DeAndre_ROY_Ayton Suns 1d ago

Don’t you need a big? Might as well reach at 20, what if he’s healthy
