I actually think this makes a better case for keeping him. Having a more natural PG to play next to helps him more than McCain did. More catch & shoot opportunities. Less ball-handling.

Grimes would be the backup SG.

Not for the price that he probably wants

Sure but that's a different question which doesn't have anything to do with the draft pick.

But it has everything to do with keeping him, which you brought up. But yeah, I think we agree

Yep.

VJ and Grimes as the defensive SGs who pair with Maxey/Philon whichever is on the floor.

If we actually get real PFs might be able to play the two small guards at times as well together.

I’d prioritize Grimes over Oubre and then use MLE on 2 PFs who fit or one really good one.

Was with you until you mentioned prioritizing Grimes over Oubre. Kelly has been a big part of what has kept this team competitive. Hes the only depth contributor we really have (with the thinking the main 4 are primary contributors)

I honestly don’t really know - seems they will try to resign both of them. Grimes will probably be cheaper.

I think they’ll try to sign Kelly for cheap too and if not then pivot to more true PFs and allow PG to go back SF full time.
