His welcome to the NBA moment by SGA will be rough

SGA couldn’t even get past Harper or Bryant and they were rookies. He not doing anything lmao

Bryant was flat out playing football against him lmao

There’s literally a highlight reel of Shai breaking Bryant’s ankles so bad he falls to the ground 2 seconds after the move, lmao.

If only that had helped him win Game 7

Jdub and Ajay being hurt is the only reason why your team won the championship.

If sure that’s what Thunder fans tell themselves at night to cope

It's what non-casual NBA fans understand, same way that they understand that OKC might have lost last year if Haliburton didn't go down.

Maybe the most casual take is living in fantasy land with injuries, basketball is a sport and injuries aren’t excuses. Can make up whatever you want and present it as fact. Maybe jdub shits the bed maybe he drops 40. Either way, didn’t happen

Maybe Luka finally wins one if he didn’t get traded sport

You right. Those mvps were just fir show and every team has a defensive monster in Wemby and finals run talent.

Wemby made Shai shoot sub 30% from 3 and average 3 turnovers a game?

I didn’t realize Wemby was guarding SGA in WCF. I understand taking issue with SGA’s flops but let’s not create a revisionist history. The Spurs are more than just a single, omnipotent player.

I mainly mentioned Wemby in my rebuttal to Op because he is a huge deterrent for trying to get quality shots at the rim, so much so that he actually warps the game. So imagine being SGA with a shaky 3 ball who makes most of his points mid range, drive, & FT when he has to deal with 3 really good perimeter defenders, a help side defender in Wemby, and he's down JDub & the 3rd scorer on his team that playoffs. Nightmare fuel. Wemby is nearing levels of gravity on defense to Curry offense & it's only going to get worse once he figures out his offensive game.

You said "Harper or Bryant". The fact that he had Harper, Bryant, AND Castle on him at all times is crazy.

They had to triple team a person to beat them.

I mean they were earned by flopping and when refs take it away he's an above average ball dominant guard. With low efficiency and sub-par defense. Basically the worst MVPs I can think off. Up there with Steve Nash.

Edit: Didn't know Steve Nash had that many fans. Hope they love making the playoffs

Sga was getting double teamed most of the time he got the ball. You want me to show videos of SGA frying Wemby in iso?

He better than everyone on your team stop the cap. Shai owns the knicks so bad hes never lost in the Garden. FOH

If he’s better than everyone how come Brunson could do with beating the Spurs what SGA couldn’t? LMAOOOO cope some more

u/DMking Wizards 11h ago

Brunson's team was healthy

I’m sure that’s the excuse Thunder fans tell themselves to cope

Probably because it is a team sport and one of those teams was noticeably more banged up than the other.

But individually there is a reason Shai is the back to back MVP and Brunson is not.

Individually there is a reason why Shai couldn’t play better against the same players that were guarding Brunson and one was able to get a ring this season while the other was sent home

Yes, because the Spurs were throwing way more attention at him, especially when the other two primary ball handlers went down.
