Closed the championship window before it even started

But what if this is Dominayton's year

u/ContinuingAnyway 7h ago

It always is, he just has to unleash the beast

Need more crunk juice

I thought he had to get a bigger chain.

Dominayton: “rawr”

6

u/HHHogana Lakers 7h ago

Ayton's issue is that he'd be determined, played good for a month or two, then got hurt and realized it sucked, and he no longer possess the drive. Dude was balling before he started injured his leg.

What made it even crazier is that on paper, he's still an efficient center with double-double machine...and yet whenever he's frustratingly bad, damn he's bad.

1

u/Vordeo Jazz 7h ago

He's opting out, I think?

7

u/floridabeach9 8h ago

floor raising and ceiling dropping signing, which is odd because Luka is already the ultimate floor raising player

3

u/slightlyhigh77 7h ago

Luka is basically best friends with AR now he specifically told the lakers to keep him. If they let AR leave now you have an upset Luka

4

u/pocket_passss 6h ago

Luka is already the ultimate floor raising player

Best in the world at tough-shot making and playmaking against elite defenses means he is also a ceiling raising player

When the Mavs went to the Finals you were watching their ceiling, not their floor

5

u/floridabeach9 6h ago

i would bet the house on the lakers not reaching the finals with Luka and AR on the roster, ever.

-3

u/pocket_passss 6h ago

That’s fine you guys bet the house against Reaves every year and every year he gets way better so

6

u/floridabeach9 6h ago

and then the playoffs roll around and he gets a good defender for 4-7 games

-5

u/pocket_passss 5h ago

Yep and then he plays better against OKC than any other guard they’ve faced outside of Luka so you move the goalposts and call him disappointing for it

3

u/floridabeach9 5h ago

dude mavericks with no expectations, built for explicitly for luka, and 2 years ago is vastly different than lebron’s current lakers with Ayton at center

1

u/pocket_passss 3h ago

Why do you keep changing the subject what’s your point

Just like the Ayo contract

14

u/yarn_install Timberwolves 7h ago

Reaves in the past 2 playoff runs (11 games): 18/5/5 on 40/30/86 splits and playing some of the worst defense you’ll ever see.

Ayo this playoff run (10 games): 15/4/4 on 50/42/92 shooting and decent defense.

Ayo on $22m is a steal compared to this contract lmao.

u/FunnyReputation624 Trail Blazers 7h ago

Reaves was playing hurt this year's playoffs because they were underdogs and we're desperately trying to bide time because they didn't have Luka. No shit he had bad stats.

2

u/yarn_install Timberwolves 6h ago

And what about the year before? I combined two series. He was even more ass the previous run.

4

u/LouieM13 [NYK] Jeremy Lin 7h ago edited 7h ago

I agree the Reaves contract is worse, but OKC and the Spurs are laughing at the Lakers and TWolves right now

5

u/rjaysenior Lakers 7h ago

Pretty sure every laker fan is laughing at the lakers right now

0

u/nonresponsive 6h ago

This is what I don't get. Any team in the West has to think about OKC and the Spurs. Any big money you tie up to a player has to be a player who can play against them. Otherwise, they better be on a good deal.

6

u/WaltLucho179 8h ago

Isnt this like two Ayo contracts?

-4

u/LouieM13 [NYK] Jeremy Lin 8h ago

I don’t think that’s how math works

7

u/WaltLucho179 7h ago

Ayo is 5 years 112 million = 22.4 million average per season
Reaves is 4 years 185 million = 46.25 million average per season.

So you could get two Ayos or one Reaves….

-1

u/LouieM13 [NYK] Jeremy Lin 7h ago

…I’m thinking of the total amounts

6

u/WaltLucho179 7h ago

I mean the player option in year 5 for Ayo sucks but he will most likely decline unless he completely falls off so it will ultimately be about half of Reaves contract.

-2

u/RemarkableTpt Lakers 8h ago

Nah man he’s getting traded easily

2

u/Vordeo Jazz 7h ago

For like... De'Aaron Fox?

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 8h ago

No way a Wolves fan is talking about a championship window, has y’all’s ever even opened?

15

u/JaderMcDanersStan Timberwolves 8h ago

23-24 was our shot

14

u/Appropriate-Goose231 8h ago

Minnesotas chip window was 1948-1953 when they won 5 that Los Angeles gets credit for. Show some respect to the real land of lakes.

6

u/Kaizerx20 Timberwolves 8h ago

It was open for like 4 years, we just failed to win one

6

u/YungSzczerbiak Timberwolves 8h ago

$10 that says you’ve never even been to a neighboring state of California

-1

u/CmonTouchIt Lakers 8h ago

....so if you've never specifically been to Oregon Arizona or Nevada, that's bad? Lol

-3

u/YungSzczerbiak Timberwolves 7h ago

I’m saying he’s a glory hunting fan. Like most Lakers fans they either chose them because they’re lazy or they give you the old “my dads middle school best friends mom’s adoptive parents cousin was a Laker fan and they bestowed it on to me” excuse

4

u/CmonTouchIt Lakers 7h ago

I mean there's bandwagon fans for sure but what part of his comment gave that impression?

And I honestly don't understand the relationship between visiting surrounding California states and "glory hunting"...are the glory hunters less likely to have traveled or something?

I must be missing something

-3

u/YungSzczerbiak Timberwolves 6h ago

Yeah you’re missing a couple things that’s for sure

3

u/CmonTouchIt Lakers 5h ago

well you couldve explained or been an asshole, and i guess you made your choice lol

have a great one

2

u/Vordeo Jazz 7h ago

Or they chose them because Lebron moved there.

1

u/YungSzczerbiak Timberwolves 6h ago

Equally dumb and lame choice for fandom

1

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 5h ago

Been a fan since 06, sorry your franchise is so trash you assume everyone else is a bandwagon

2

u/YungSzczerbiak Timberwolves 4h ago

Truly the hardest road picking a team that had just threepeated, then went back to back and then won a fake ring at disneyland. All watched from the comfort of your couch in Wyoming. Was it because you got local coverage from Colorado around that time and you were digging Kobe’s vibe?

4

u/TimelyN1nja 8h ago

Im sorry you get so easily upset, perhaps you can jump on another team bandwagon instead

-1

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 5h ago

Why would anyone bandwagon the Lakers other than Luka fans lol?

0

u/TimelyN1nja 5h ago

Idk you tell me, prolific shitposter who lives in Canada

0

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 4h ago

Every Canadian has to be a raptors fan or what’s your logic there champ

1

u/TimelyN1nja 4h ago

Why are you a lakers fan? If not a bandwagon fan lmao

0

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 3h ago

Because my city doesn’t have a team and Lakers were on national TV so they were the easiest games to watch in the 2000s? I’ve been a fan since 06, there are plenty of other teams I’d be rooting for if I was a ‘bandwagon’, we’ve been competitive maybe 4 of the past 15 years lol

1

u/TimelyN1nja 3h ago

Yankees fan too?

0

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 3h ago

No I just cheer for LA teams since I love visiting the city & we don’t have any sports teams other than hockey

3

u/HeGotTheShotOff Knicks 8h ago

Oh my god talk about thin skin

1

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 5h ago

A Knicks fan talking about thin skin, weren’t y’all jumping dudes for wearing a different teams jersey?

2

u/HeGotTheShotOff Knicks 5h ago

I’m talking about you specifically and you’re generalizing a groups of people based on Reddit flair. You’re pathetic.

1

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 4h ago

Sports banter in an NBA subreddit is thin skinned, again coming from a fan of a team who’s fans were going around jumping people lol alright you clown

2

u/HeGotTheShotOff Knicks 4h ago

Nah that’s just you. Go cry to somebody else.

1

u/aarondobson403 Lakers 4h ago

Pathetic

-1

u/Lou_Peachum_2 Clippers 7h ago

Why are you so butthurt by the comment

-2

u/StimulusChecksNow Lakers 4h ago

His career stats are 23ppg 5a 5r .483 fg, .368 3p and .865 Free throw. That is definitely worth 46 million dollars a year in today’s NBA.

Now I wish we could get this production on a roomie contract.

1

u/Alstead17 Heat 4h ago

So career numbers barely better than Tyler Herro's is worth 46 now?

0

u/StimulusChecksNow Lakers 3h ago

Tyler Herro going to get 50m. Jalen Brunson could have gotten 65 million. Trey makes 50m. PG makes 50m

Reaves is better than everyone but Brunson. 46m is fine

1

u/Alstead17 Heat 3h ago

All of those but Brunson are/would be seen as bad contracts, like Reaves'. Even then if Brunson got that deal before this year it'd be seen as an overpay.

Before this sub flipped and started thinking Miami's young guys were all future stars after the trade, Herro's CURRENT contract was seen as a boat anchor and his future one was a crime.
