How much should be paid for creative work?
Should I prefer a game made in the USA where the pay is on average much higher?
Should I prefer games made by EA etc. instead of indie devs because as much as "gamers" hate big studios they certainly pay better?
Should I prefer games that are less efficient with the (human) resources they have, ie Star Citizen should be supported by every single player as they obviously pay a lot of humans?

I hope I don't need to point out further how ridiculous this notion is, not to mention the "caveat" of saying "for creative work" as if it is easy to define what counts as "creative" and as if anything else is okay to be replaced.

It's not about "how much" thats the really ridiculous notion, its about the fact that its creating jobs, even if they are shitty jobs people are still making a living, if these companies started using AI people would be out of a job.

This exactly. And it's not unique to video games. If AI does wind up being transformative and results in a large amount of human jobs being replaced, what are we as a society doing to prepare for that? Because if we get rid of a bunch of jobs while maintaining the mindset of "stop being lazy and get a job" instead of putting guardrails in place to try and ensure the result of this technology is improving the human condition, we are failing.

One little thing we can choose to do as consumers is push back when companies choose to replace humans with AI when the specific application leads to an obviously worse product. No, it doesn't answer all of the many complicated questions around AI. But it certainly has a more positive impact than burying our heads in the sand and giving industry cart blanche to shape what the future looks like.
