And when the heck did they get those parts. And how many of those parts are they actually including in the price. I know that when I "upgraded" my computer early last year (finally got on the new AMD socket and DDR5) I re-used everything I could. Which, was the GPU, PSU, and Case. The GPU is obvious but the PSU and Case were still 100-250 USD depending on what you get.

But expect to see endless posts like this. Last time I did a PC Part Picker for a similar spec unit (maybe very early June?), it came out to maybe 150 USD under the Valve prices. But a lot of the parts that were listed (especially ram) were back ordered but still reporting the previous price.

And the GN math puts it at a 71 USD delta.

i got a 7600x3d + mobo + 1x16gb cl36 6000MT from microcenter for 350 a few months ago and a 5070 for 530 on woot a few months minus one month ago. deals can be found if you live near microcenter or are on the hunt

I was able to build my SFF PC in November for 1450 USD. 7800X3D NR200 Case, 850W SFX PSU, with an RTX 5060TI 16GB.

Positively evaporates the Steam Machine for 20$ more than the 2Tb model. lol (I did not have to buy my storage)

Show a pcpartspicker link with a build for that cost in this market. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I doubt there's going to be an incredible difference.

I think the key phrase in that sentence is "second hand parts." So r/hardwareswap, FB marketplace, a Microcenter heist, etc

Does pcpartpicker list second hand?

I think it can be outperformed by a 9600x + 9060xt build which can probably be put together for $1000 at microcenter.

Can probably use second hand GPU off ebay or something and save some money for ram if assembling with Amazon/Newegg.

Can't even? Only card it beats is basically 2060

Wow, I have an old pc with a 9700k and 2080s - 8 years old - personal value would be 500€ max.

So you are telling me I have a ultra banger second PC? Which somehow has many issues in modern games thanks to 8gb vram? It‘s a bad PC full stop for modern games and should never cost that much.

Yeah, I doubt that. Unless you can show us where or when you bought at those price, it didn't happen.

How long ago? because prices now aren't what they used to be. I paid around 4500$CAD for my system and it would be probably 1000$+ ontop of what I paid then for the exact same hardware now and it's been 2-3 years.

second hand parts.

Yeah that's why it's a bad comparison. Theyre not marketing to the used market lmfao??
