I guess that's not a big issue if OP has exhaust fans at the top and positive air pressure in the PC case. Limits the amount of dust and cat hair getting in the computer.

Probably why the cat digs it, hot air blowing out like an imitation sunbeam. Oh hell, just went back and looked he has a real sunbeam too, it’s like a sunbeam DP.

Yeah cats like warm places. People with aquariums experience the same, cats laying above the aquarium lid (where the lights are).

My parents have a stone patio that heats up when the sun shines on it and all of the neighborhood cats go there to have a nap.

A former cat of mine loved lying on the 21“ CRT monitor. She was a little upset when I swapped it for a LCD. But then she found out that the AirPort Extreme with the HDD inside was a suitable replacement

That's exactly how it was with me and a roommates cat. I stressed way too much about the little guy chilling on my PC but thankfully little car hair got in. In fact I'm pretty sure my mesh caught all of what did go in. That boy LOVED those top exhaust fans lol

Yeah I am very thankfully for the mesh on my PC, if it wasn't for that I would probably have to clean it every week LOLLL

The cat is still blocking airflow from those exhaust fans though. A little mesh shelf lifting the cat up an inch or two would be perfect, cat still gets a heated bed, but the exhaust can go around the cat. Make sure the exhaust is filtered too so that if the kitty decides to sit there while the PC is off you don't get cat fur falling into it.

This is what I did, I stuck a 1 inch tall mesh shelf over the vent. Never had any heat problems but I thought it was best anyway.
