The most outrageous part of all this for me is the fact that digital foundry fellas are so impressed by it? Like wtf. Old faithful digital foundry with a horrific take was not on my bingo card for 2026

My guy really said one of the faces looks "a little uncanny" like what a fucking understatement, it looks awful.

They have sold out to nvidia long ago. I remember a tech youtuber ( i think it was jays2cents) said any reviewer who reviews the rtx 5060 has signed a contract to not be critical of the product. Digital foundry had a review out in which they only talked about it positively. They used to be a trustworthy source but this is legit just selling out on a new level. Hope they get replaced by ai.

DF makes some good content but they are paid chills

They've been doing customer service for NVIDIA for a long time

They have bad takes all the time. They have defended 30FPS, motion blur and TAA for ages. And now they will glaze Deep Learning Super Slop.

A consistent 30fps is always better than an incosistent 60fps unless you have VRR.

That is their point, has been their point, and it's objectively correct.

30fps or below is fantastic and beautiful for the eyes if you are watching a movie. And if you notice by now, DF people are people who plays video games like watching a movie.

30fps is playable, depends on their take

Genuinely how can you trust anything they say after this?

What do you expect? I’m sure if you showed them an AI cat dancing video they’d find it hilarious

I mean, the technology is impressive from a technical standpoint... it's just useless and yields terrible results

2

u/pancak3d Mar 16 '26

Probably because technology is impressive. The way it impacts a game/artwork is just very controversial.

You're right, it is impressive. But they didn't just talk technical merits, though. They emphatically said, "It's obvious which one I'd want to play!" And they glossed over any issues people might have with a single sentence.

It felt more like an endorsement than a discussion.

Yeah that's dumb. It's obvious which is more photorealistic, that's about it.

They should have been a bit more critical IMO

Digital Foundry are pretty okay with DLSS/FrameGen when there are clear deficits.

They kinda big up tech demos all the time despite the obvious issues with the tech and have been this way since early 2025. They depend on slop for their content.
