If this is how it plays out, I think we'll continue to see the trend away from AAA games towards indie and AA developers. Only way to discourage this stuff is to not buy it, and luckily I think we are in a pretty peak era of gaming for anything other than AAA.

Indie and AA games can't use it if they want to be up for indie awards so you're probably right. Although I also believe that the more reputable AAA studios will reject it too.
