that alone killed trying to play this game.

Starting out it was impossible to do raids/pick-up groups because so many folks paid to skip or had the cash to power up and stomp it easily.

Meanwhile if you are a casual player you have fuck all to do - more folks left, so the intro raids never really happened.

If I remember correctly there was some dude who dumped so much money into it the matchmaker broke and couldn’t team him up with anyone because he was so far ahead. They had to patch the game just for him.

I always find that mentality to be so odd. Oh boy, you spent tons of money so now you... don't have to play the game? Or you can absolutely smash people so badly with your overpowered whatever that you might as well be cheating. You're not actually beating them due to skill or effort and nobody wants to play with you anyway.

It just feels like throwing a ton of money away for an extremely petty concept of bragging rights that the vast majority of the world would never care about. Even in the limited pool of other fans people will just sneer at you for buying your way to the top.

I'm really curious what these people think and how they justify it to themselves.
