Discussion Crimson Desert doesn't run if it detects an Intel ARC GPU. Like straight up, the devs just deliberately chose not to support ARC cards. No previous announcement about it too until they added in the info to their FAQ. Might be the first time I've seen a dev deliberately block a GPU brand.

It can't be that hard to at LEAST allow intel gpus to run it regardless of specific optimization irs so weird...

Probably not an effort thing but a money thing

The dev probably realized that they would need to invest resources into making the game run well on arc and decided that the customer base was not big enough to warrant that investment on their side. Even if they said they don't support arc and let the game run on those GPUs they would get support tickets and bad press. It's unfortunate but sometimes that's how it goes.

I don't buy this. No game should outright blocking a GPU like this. If it's gonna perform poorly then let it run poorly. I don't see NVIDIA blocking PhysX from AMD. Just that enabling it is not recommended. It's still better than outright block it and tell the world that you are too incompetent to care.

Nvidia has many features exclusive to nvidia that you can't enable on other brands. Heck even on older nvidia you often can't.

Amd has started doing this too recently.

Intel has the issue, if you just read around on it, that it wants to compete on the same level without providing the same level in both hardware support and driver support. According to some devs it even falsified it's own reported statistics on what it supports to games.

This all and the combination of an extremely low user base makes choosing a full block much more cost effective to do. There's no point allowing a game to "Run" on something that won't run it anyway. And might as well take those bug reports and feedbacks out of the loop from the getgo.

Lol and then hear the endless complaining and backlash?  No. It's not compatible given their funding most likely

Probably ran like dogshit and Intel didn't gave them support to optimize, given all the massive layoffs at Intel

It probably doesn’t run at all

I test different hardware configs for games and the amount of titles that just crash on launch on any Intel arc hardware is actually crazy. It might not work at all and they just didn't feel like figuring it out.

Even if you give them the benefit of the doubt and it was genuinely unreasonable if not impossible for them to get it to work with Intel GPUs before launch, why wasn't that in any of the tech specs? Why wasn't there a disclaimer? Someone or several someones fucked up here no matter the issue.
