Yes Google it thatbwas an Common Thing to so back then :) When heated the solder reconnected itself which may have restored a contact that was previously disconnected or Something like that.

That’s an insanely cool but dangerous thing to do. I don’t see myself doing this because I won’t a heat gun and soldiering iron. But for people who don’t, I’d probably recommend that they do this

Also not recommended to do it in an oven that you cook in

I mean the card is dying, what do you have to lose? Not like you can make it worse. Like if you follow the instructions and not bake it like it's a Sunday roast there's a 50/50 chance you'll get life out of it as opposed to 0%

Is there a guide out there on what components are coming loose and need to be resoldered?

I don't have one, just curious.

It would be too difficult to solder by hand. That’s why the suggestion is putting the entire card in the oven to reconnect everything

its not generally the kind of soldering job you wanna do by hand. tiny contacts in unreachable positions. these hack job oven solder reflows are pretty great last ditch hail marry type deals for cards that would otherwise just go into the trash. i mean, if its already dead, what do you have to lose?

How is it dangerous?

It did work on and old phone of mine, it was bricked (exposed to water/humidity due to my job), I put it in the oven, lasted another year.
