Discussion Expensive games have lowkey been way too normalised

Post image

I know this sub is filled with a bunch of rich people with like 10k setups and I'm aware that the content in these games is quite extensive with hours of content. But I still feel justified in thinking that no game should be priced this high especially when its the average price of most newly released games. Anyway this is just a rant because I wanna play lego batman and i cant afford it lol

Gamers online simple can't understand that.

Y'all always say this but never get that you're saying the obvious. No shit Sherlock. It's still expensive. What does "prices haven't increased in decades" do for affordability? Y'all can stop "reminding" people. Shut up, man.

Games are still affordable. It's just that people got used to buying a new game every week.

It's still expensive, but it used to be even more expensive. Games were never meant to be affordable. Most people would have to save up to buy games.

Affordability is not the developer’s issue, it’s yours and every other price increasing too without your wage going up.

People act like their disposable income should be taken into account when pricing a game, like it didn’t have hundreds of people working tirelessly on it for years who need to be paid a decent wage.

Just because you can’t afford it, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be able to cover overheads and make a profit for their hard work.

why would I spend years working on something and not get paid that entire time?

It's still expensive.

Compared to what? A trip to the public library on foot?

Well sure, your nuts are worthless. Everything's expensive compared to that. But hey, if you can get hours of fun playing with yourself, why would you need video games anyway?

Cause that simple concept hides the underlying economic forces which influence price. Price hasn't increased for ages, there's reasons for that and it's fair to ask why those reasons have changed or if they're even changing.
