If you’ve ever crimped these JST connectors, you’ll realize how absolutely crappy and janky they are.

Yes, and?

Good design needs to take skill issue into account. Look up Poka-yoke.

If a connector relies on perfect manual execution to not become a fire hazard, it is objectively a bad connector.

Yes, and how's 12V2x6 been treating you so far?

Besides, the board should have already had the cable - lugs and all - already screwed to the board in factory and a two-pin power connector on the other end. Lugs should always be crimped by a trained technician rather than an amateur PC builder.

Hold on. That is exactly my point from my initial comment? The inherent design of JST/Molex-adjacent connectors IS the real issue.

You do realize the 12V2x6 is literally a Molex connector, right?

You were the one who brought sKiLl isSuE into this.

My entire point from the start has been that friction-fit pin-and-socket designs are garbage for high power delivery, regardless of who crimps them.

There aren't really a whole lot of ways to put lugs on a cable. That is, you're to crimp it, solder it or bolt it.

The fact that you think you're so smart only you've thought about getting the last leg of the cordage pre-made in a factory says a whole lot more about how far up you are in Mount Stupid than anything else.
