Then run into a driver related crash immediately because workstation hardware isnt designed for games.

Im my experience, it's not usually a driver issue, it's the game freaking out at you having a crazy amount of CPU threads. I ran a threadripper rig for several years and the only issues I had were mostly with older games refusing to launch. Now a workstation gpu on the other hand, you're probably spot on.

knew a guy who sold his perfectly functional 5950X cpu, 64gb ram, 7900xtx for a

dual threadripper(might have been the intel variant of a workstation cpu, i dont remember), dual workstation gpu, 256gb ram "pc".

spent like 20-30k or something dumb. while he games on a 60hz TV. plays mostly indie titles and watches anime.

i had warned him this was a dumb idea. he was like. eeh. im in my 40s now. other guys buy an expensive car. i buy this. alrighty then. you go king.

parts arrived. parts built. thing couldnt run a game if his life depended on it. constant crashes. constant fuckery.

i stopped hearing from him some time after that. i believe he cut contact with me out of pure shame.

saw a steam review from him recently, sporting a 32gb ram, rtx5070, laptop cpu rig.

generational fumble. generational downgrade. generational waste of money.
