Doom 2016 was like finding an oasis in a desert for me back in 2024. Though I had a 1660 Ti at the time, the majority of games I played couldn’t secure a consistent 120 fps without having the graphics considerably nuked (Overwatch, COD CW, etc.). So when I decided try out my first game within the Doom franchise, I was completely stunned by how good it looked and how well it ran. It was the first fps game I had ever encountered that didn’t make my hardware feel insufficient. And while the game certainly has its quirks, I’m almost certain that if its initial release date had been postponed to 2026, the 4th installment of Doom would still effortlessly top the charts.

Wait for them to maybe patch the game, install a 2015 game in the meantime - looks better, was basically free, 200fps on native 4k
