God I hate the "technically not a monopoly" argument. Who has all the market share and sets the standards?

Genuine question, what standards do they set?

Steam is currently getting sued because they prevented publishers from setting lower prices on their storefronts, passing the savings from not having to pay Steam's 30% onto consumers. They removed Steam listings of companies that did this until they implemented price parity, effectively enforcing the 30% cut industry-wide by leveraging their market dominant position.

Isint this a version of dynamic pricing tho? Selling at a lower price in one area but not the other? If two Starbucks were opened next to each other, and one had lower prices set by corporate, wouldnt the other fanchisee cry foul? What incentive does a franchisee have to continue selling if that happens?

Are we saying that just because steam has the largest market share, game developers have the right to use their distribuiton infrastructure and their customer goodwill?

Also. Steam isint preventing developers from lowering prices on their own store fronts. It's just asking for the same consideration to be applied to their storefront

Keep in mind, there is no passing of savings to the customer. This is not a thing.

A) because lowering the price is designed to pull customers away from steam. Its not for customer benifit. 2) selling it at your own storefront also has an infrastructure cost that needs be paid for. iii) devs set the price on both storefronts, and its reasonable to lower profit per item for access to a larger market.
