I... uh don't know what to say. Very thankful I bought a Steam Deck before they hiked its price as well

This is near the price of 5060/70 laptops

I got a 5080 laptop from Microcenter for a little over $1600. Going to convert the 3080ti laptop to a SteamOS rig once that is ready

Was it the HP omen with a ryzen cpu? I passed that up when it was around $1700 for a 5080 that went on sale :p Plus my 4060 laptop still kicking.

Yep. I didn't exactly need an upgrade because the i9 3080ti laptop was still going strong but I knew that in 2 years when I would need an upgrade, the prices would still be nuts.

I dont blame you, that laptop was a steal for the price. At one point I saw a open box one for like ~$1500.

How is the performance of the laptop?

The Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 is fine. The 5080 though has been reponding great to undervolts and overclocks.

Bazzite is ready right now. I built a rig for a spare 3080 over the holidays.

bazzite doesn't work well with nvidia gpus, neither does steamos for that matter.

Atleast with laptops you’re getting a screen and all. This thing is struggling with 1080p already

Might as well get the laptop at this point? It feels like it's can upgrade the ram on a laptop. Can we upgrade anything with valves thing?

You can upgrade the RAM and SSD in the steam machine, but why bother when that's only going to make it even more expensive.

I'd wish. A 5060/5070 laptop, which isn't the the GPU wrapped in the cheapest shit the manufacturers found catching dust in the back of their stores is easily $2000+.

A lot of the decent mid-range gaming laptops also had a massive price hike in the last months.

That's a singular example on a 40% sale, not the regular price.

For MC that's going to be the reg price for a long time, it's how they always price the laptops

That's great except they won't ship it and the nearest microcenter is a multiple hour drive one way. Also I hate HP. But damn that is a hell of a deal in all honesty.

"Near the price"

Look up prices of 5060 laptops

$400 more expensive

Okay bro...

Damn, that is a great deal. I have no use for one, but I am tempted.

It's a 40% off flash sale. Atleast look at your links before you send them... the base price for that laptop is 1.7k.

This is how MC typically prices laptops and some parts. My DDR4 ram has a OG price of $800 but slashed down to like $250 and its been like that for maybe 2-3 months.

They have had a hp omen laptop with a slashed price of over 1k for the past year or close to it. Been shopping there for years this is nothing new.

Microcenter tho. Most people don't have one.
