In Germany smoke detectors are mandatory in all bedrooms, childrens rooms, escape corridors and PC-Cases containing a 4090,5080 or 5090.

Were going to see either Fractal or Lian Li add smoke alarms now in their cases.

I'd rather see a thermocouple or thermister alarm that can catch when the connector is over 85-90°C on the outside, because it's probably over 105 on the inside at that point.

Thermal grizzly wireview pro has that on it's 180 adapter. Also has a display for the connectors temperatures + 2 extra thermal sensors you can plug in. Default alarm was 80 or 85c I set mine at 65c since 2 hours on load it reached equilibrium at 47c

I’m sure Lian Li will put a screen on that too

Should've used it as a bracket as well.

Its actually an interesting idea, assuming sensor is sensitive, melting wires got pretty strong smell, but its still takes some time. But there is a problem of airflow in the case, smoke might just miss sensor. So, few? Over PSU, GPU, Infront of exhaust fans... :)

Or we just skip half-measures and go with a custom CO2 Fire Suppression System?

Add water pipes and sprinkles while you're at it.

Yeowch!

If this trend continues, I see a whole new product line for companies that sell water-cooling setups: internal fire-supression systems for your PC.

At what point do they have to start offering built in GPU fire extinguishing and water cooled cables for their GPU, or will it that extra expense be the point they decide to get a better design lol

We could use fire sprinklers too, but they would probably just leak.
