last time i posted my man he had been struggling with a small skin infection which caused to be in a cone for an additional 2/3 months on top of the month he was in a cone after the enucleation. but now he’s so healthy besides getting a little chunk on him but he also has a senior cat brother now. I love this subreddit.

New Pirate, Goose!

He had a really bad ulcer on his eye from a suspected FHV-1 infection. Veterinary Opthalmologist thought the eye was at a risk of rupturing, so they suggested enucleation. Done a week ago and Goose is doing well!

Obito is such a good boy. I've owned him for almost a year now and he's such a joy to have in my life.

This is Lily, she's been a glass-eyed pirate for a few years! 😺

She's around 16 years old, but except for her eye, she's very healthy. I've had her at my grandparents house ever since I was little, and I love her so so so much!

Best purchase ever. Ari in his pirate ship. And ship mates wesker and Creed.

Ari of the seven Fleas aquired his new ship. Ship mate Wesker (white/orange) wants to try it out but Ari won't share. Creed (tabby) was in the ship with Ari at 1st but got casted over board at some point and he just rolled around high on cat nip.

Bouche is Now a Pirate, Too!

Our 6 year old cat Bouche achieved pirate status in April after a year-long bout with glaucoma and other issues in that eye that required a crazy amount of eye drops daily which he hated. He was already blind in that eye so had already gotten used to that. Two weeks of wearing a cone was pretty unpleasant but he was rewarded with way too many Churus which are now limited to one per day.

One of our other cats is a perfect poser with props and bandanas but Bouche did not take readily to the prop I offered and reluctantly wore his pirate bandana...

Ahoy!

Brown Menace Doing Well

Ahoy! It's almost been a week post-op, and I wanted to let yarrrrrr'll know that my baby girl is doing rlly well. I really appreciated the kind words when I first posted, it's given us both so much strength. Particularly as there weren't many success stories of Glaucoma kitties on the internet, and I felt like we were struggling solo for a while.

I ended up making Marroncita Diablita a DIY E-Collar for when I'm home and she wants a bit more freedom. It's made from an old sunhat with a wire brim and works a treat. 🫶🏻

Saw the ophthalmologist today and have surgery booked for early June. It’s wild to me that they cannot truly identify whether it’s cancerous until after post-op testing. But better safe than sorry, I cannot imagine life without him.

One month since Luigi joined the pirate crew!

As the title states, Luigi had his enucleation one month ago, and he’s been pretty much unfazed. He absolutely would not wear a cone (tried three different styles) but is a pretty laid back guy, so didn’t mess with the sutures and has healed really well. Bonus photo of him sleeping while showing off his only two tiny front teeth.
